FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

jimmy b - 15 Oct 2014 17:29 - 16540 of 21973

A good walk spoiled as Churchill said .

cynic - 15 Oct 2014 17:31 - 16541 of 21973

it wasn't spoiled until i came in and checked in :-)
all was looking quite reasonable when i left the office

i'm hoping without great conviction that 16,000 (dow) will provide some much needed support

jimmy b - 15 Oct 2014 17:44 - 16542 of 21973

Already gone 15960 as i type ..

cynic - 15 Oct 2014 17:50 - 16543 of 21973

cynic - 15 Oct 2014 17:54 - 16544 of 21973

6240 (ftse) busted bid time as is even 6210, so now what?

tomasz - 15 Oct 2014 17:57 - 16545 of 21973

jimmy b - 15 Oct 2014 17:58 - 16546 of 21973

Going to be one hell of a bounce at some point .

tomasz - 15 Oct 2014 18:01 - 16547 of 21973

will it really.., where and when....can you make ready....? lol

tomasz - 15 Oct 2014 18:32 - 16548 of 21973

I think s&p (ftse too)may start run out of energy so im out here +46.4.love s&p.

tomasz - 15 Oct 2014 18:47 - 16549 of 21973

btw Im really surprised by someone like art cashin making call earlier for s&p support at 1845 quoting some technicians...there isn't anything at 1845 even before price got there..how on earth they got these numbers calls..i could get their paychecks just for saying that there is nothing there..

skinny - 15 Oct 2014 19:42 - 16550 of 21973

DOW has touched 15,855 and the FTSE futures @6151 this evening!

cynic - 15 Oct 2014 19:48 - 16551 of 21973

ah well, that's one modest crumb rescued from the carnage and with luck, there'll be another before close
good to see recovery taking dow quite nicely above 16,000 once again and cash ftse also looking commensurately healthier, but let's see if it holds into the close before breathing a slight sigh of relief

cynic - 15 Oct 2014 20:43 - 16552 of 21973

and a much juicier crumb tucked away, even if not crumpet-sized

16,000 now looks quite secure (currently 16,160) so now to sit back
ftse cash = 6250, so also a much healthier position
