MoneyAM Stock-Picker of the Year 2004 Competition (COMP)

Bullshare - 18 Dec 2003 20:17

MoneyAM Stock-Picker of the Year 2004 Competition.

So who really is the best stock picker amongst the MoneyAM users!

Our users simply had to choose any 2 London Stock Exchange (LSE & AIM) stocks which they thought would be the best performer in 2004. The MoneyAM user who picked the stock which increased the most (%) from all the MoneyAM user submissions would become the winner. If there was a tie for first place (two or more users choose the same stock) then the winner would be the one whose second stock performs the best, the second prize would go to the next person who chose the same winning stock but whose second stock was the second best performing etc.

Entries closed at midnight on 31st December 2003. Only one entry per user was allowed.1st Prize: Coveted MoneyAM Yellow Jersey to wear plus 500 prize money
(kindly sponsored by Hargreaves Lansdown Stockbrokers)2nd Prize: A full day training course - value up to 375
(kindly sponsored by Global Markets Training)3rd Prize: A years subscription to Shares Magazine (cover value 150.45)

CYC still up there at the top, but with the volatility of AHT and DES who knows if it will be the outright winner!

markymar - 20 Dec 2004 16:41 - 167 of 206

No good been number 2 number 1 i will be and news is on its way.

Regards Markymar

Scripophilist - 20 Dec 2004 17:46 - 168 of 206

I think it would be interesting to do a portfolio next year. I.e. pick five stocks.

markymar - 20 Dec 2004 20:18 - 169 of 206

Bullshare you can put me down for 2005 with Desire Petroleum as this is one horse race.

What date do we finish?

Bullshare/Ian

Any chance of actually making the list correct. There are several shares that are showing as 0% due to name changes, consolidations etc - Matrix comms (MXC) formerly OST (Offshore Telecom) is a good example - should be showing approx 300% gain i think.

Some of us have been asking for this for approx 9 mths yet it is still to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kaytom - do you hold RTD - if so - post on the RTD thread and share your wisdom with the rest of us holders

Andy - 21 Dec 2004 00:10 - 171 of 206

wow!

CYC and DES neck and neck!

really close, good luck to those that chose them, on the last lap now!

Bullshare - 21 Dec 2004 06:44 - 172 of 206

looks like an overnight glitch which we will correct. Also will take a look at MXC etc

Mike

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Dec 2004 06:49 - 173 of 206

Fundamentalist,

I will get the tech boys to rectify this and I will go through the list to find any other anomalies and get them resolved.

Ian

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Dec 2004 08:52 - 174 of 206

Fundamentalist,

The table above should now show correct figures after the glitch from last night - I will do some checks to make sure all is now fine.

Regards

Ian

markymar - 21 Dec 2004 10:28 - 175 of 206

Ian what is the finishing date?

Andy - 21 Dec 2004 10:32 - 176 of 206

Fundementalist,

Ah so you had a vested interest in adjusting those figures! LOL!

Any truth in the rumour you have large orders placed in the market in a last desperate attempt to get your mits on that coveted yellow jersey?

Cheers Ian news should come before then.Any chance of a bottle of champers chucked in? Or should i be buying that as bought as low as 8p.

Ian

Fundamentalist - 21 Dec 2004 14:44 - 181 of 206

Andy

Yes a small vested interested though only small as there are others who have MXC but a better second stock - it doesnt get much worse than MDY lol!!!

Personally would be happy to be the highest finisher from the tea rooms which means finishing above AHT

markymar - 21 Dec 2004 14:56 - 182 of 206

Ian the upside of a farm-out and news is on way the shares will hit 1 to 1.50p

When they go out there to drill i expect the share price to be between 4 to 6 depending on how many holes they drill and how many partners they have .

Watch this space and put me down for next year and last Friday topped up again with 20,001 shares am that sure this is going to happen.

Regards Markymar
