FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Can you believe that Cynic, the cheeky bugger questioning my integrity... Must watch every bloody position I post waiting for his chance to spring thinking he's gonna catch me out somehow..

Shortie - 17 Oct 2014 11:32 - 16606 of 21973

Course you traded it Tomasz! Just never bothered to post, seams to be the way with you... The positions you post fail miserably but you always have unposted positions that have made a heap of cash... Keep on dreaming and posting your bullshit... Real traders post here too you know, and we know bullshit when we see it!!

jimmy b - 17 Oct 2014 11:35 - 16607 of 21973

Hey tomasz this is a really good thread ,i try trading indices myself now and again ,try and keep it for that ,iv'e nothing against you myself .
Can't see why people want to argue , i'm more interested in others ideas ,never know you might make a few quid :)

cynic - 17 Oct 2014 11:39 - 16608 of 21973

while booking some flights, i see ftse has drifted back below 6250
perhaps rashly i have shorted at 6244 (i was a bit dosy yet again!), with a view to just a modest turn before cashing in

jimmy b - 17 Oct 2014 11:51 - 16609 of 21973

Depends ,is today a one day bounce and does it go pear shaped again tomorrow ?
I'm thinking we could get a good bounce before xmas .

tomasz - 17 Oct 2014 12:19 - 16610 of 21973

goldfinger - 17 Oct 2014 14:39 - 16621 of 21973

tomaz, what I meant is were not buddies as cynic calls it.

Think hes a bit upset because I supported you a few months back on one of your buys.

Anyway we dont want to elevated into the doodlebug/Carson league where they join up and trash threads together.

As Shortie says m..am is getting shorter and shorter of decent posters mainly because of posters like the 2 idiots I mention above.

Just best to filter them out or leave the site.

Ive got a new board ready to go with over 200 peeps saying they will commit. Strictly invites aswel so it keeps the idiots away.

cynic - 17 Oct 2014 14:57 - 16622 of 21973

cut my ftse (short) losses before i frittered away all this morning's profit
still, some old dow long positions are swiftly recovering their inherent losses, so not all bad news for sure
