Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Hi Skinny,
For some reason the picture did not appear so after a least 10 seconds I posted that fact.
Then it suddenly appeared.
Strange or what.

I see the EU have stuck they noses into this , is there no part of Uk life that they can dictate to us.
How can the fight happen?
European Union freedom of trade laws permit the fight to be held in the United Kingdom, while they have been given licences by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation.

And why not? -
Malmo rocks to lunchtime dance craze
The disco ball rotates slowly, casting a wave of red bursts of light on the 100 or so faces of Malmo's "Lunchbeat" set.
They are dancing energetically to a continuous stream of 1960s classics in a small dance hall not far from the city's old town.

Was there a Queen's speech yesterday.
-------------------------
Heard that the big C is blaming Clegg for all future problems.
Could be fun to watch.
Can we have a triple dip recession?
---------------------
Maybe an interesting day at the Leveson enquiry with Coulson's appearance.
Wasn't he something to do with tory propaganda?
Or was it Murdoch's empire?

Portugal scraps four public holidays in austerity drive
Is it a good idea , should we have it here ? Didn't the government here talked about doing away with the May day bank holiday.

I think this government thought of going away in May for their summer break.
Perhaps, you could volunteer to be their guide.

Too many public holidays here in this country IMO. Id scrap most of them and lump them as one week off. Much better for industry that way. Stop start stop start. Been through that with my former business.

Witness: What zero nuclear power looks like
May 10 - Japan shut down its last nuclear reactor last week, but now is facing a hot summer and severe power shortages. Why are all 50 reactors still offline? Reuters' Chris Meyers tells us more.

Hi Aldwickk,
You say, 'is there no part of UK life that they can dictate to us'.
I doubt it, as most of us accept that EU law can and does negate UK law.
That is why I will vote UKIP in the next elections.
Just look at the latest ruling by the judges in Strasbourg re Abu Qatada.
They have decided, quite rightly due to the almighty cock-up my Teresa Mays department that the time line re appeal was wrong, and that he can now possibly receive compensation.
What the hell has this got to do with them, if they were looking at true 'human rights' this terrorist would be hung (not by the neck), drawn and dissected (quartering's too good for him).
We also learn that it may now be another year due to further appeals.
This person should have been put on a plane within hours of his appeal being turned down (or even it had been upheld) and shipped out.
This country of ours is no longer self ruling, and I for one am waiting for a 21st century equivalent of a revolution, (if just laws wont protect us, we must protect ourselves).
And believe it or not, I am in a good mood today and feeling quite benevolent to my fellow man.

Actually, reading some posts it probably is a good thing that the UK is not self governing.
GF,
Regarding Bank Holidays,
In some industries the breaks are good.
Holiday, catering, entertainment etc.
Also, in some heavy industries and food preparation in the past these short breaks were used for repairs with the machinery shut of cleaning and maintenance performed.
A long time ago when I was a student I use to love these weekends, as I got paid time and a half and then double time.
Even "worked" a 36hour shift once or twice.
Underground, 24hour shifts were "allowed" or "done" frequently repairing or overhauling diesel engine and compressors etc..

Off hand, what is the recess time of this government in a period of self induced recession.
Surely they pay packets, expensed and paid "holidays" should be reduced.
Perhaps, they might find time to scrap the Peers.
Forgot, that it is the holiday home for failed Lords and Lady with nowhere else to go.

N.
I exchanged Euros for Sterling a few years ago with the Company which then went burst.
For few days before I received the Euros I was cursing myself for being greedy and although I was very sceptical suspicious of the rate being offered.
I was cursing myself and recalculating the holiday costs.
The rate was good and I still have sufficient for this trip.
Generally, I have been lucky, my wife says too lucky, but she says she is working on it!
