rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Can we get back to the purpose of this site?

I had a dreadful week last week, lost 9.3% on my trading account, was up then did far too many trades trying to scalp, so I know it's due to lack of discipline.

Would anyone mind if I used this thread to post my results (% only) for each week? Knowing I'm going to publish them might make me better disciplined (or freeze in the headlights!). I won't be publishing individual trades or amounts as I just don't have the time.

I've made it all back this week fortunately, far fewer trades.

Just closed a +50 long on the Dow :-)

and i've just gone short at 16762 :-)

As long as we get rid of the trashers. There are people on here who need more than filtering.

if "silly boy" is going to continue to be silly, then the remedy is to squelch him and that will make all of his silliness disappear
it would be a great shame to feel obliged to take that action, but needs must sometimes
