Parts of England no longer in drought after heavy rain

Parts of England are no longer in drought following heavy rain in recent weeks, the Environment Agency has said.

Drought has ended in south-west England, the Midlands and parts of Yorkshire following persistent rainfall, it added.

I think method of interrogation is skilful and informative and exposes what many will see as a corruption of "said" democracy.

The costs are unfortunate, but in comparison with the price of a "battle ship" infinitesimal and the future value of the enquiry may be that it leads to some clean up of politics, which is long overdue.

I think the enquiry may prove more valuable than the battleship.

But I do wonder why many seem prepared to devalue and sweep away possible findings of the enquiry.

For me there appears to have been and are continuing "criminal" abuses of power.

(Some of which the present government is trying to cover with smoke screens.)

The abuses are not confined to this tory party leadership, but at the moment they are in the driving seat.

Fully agree, but that does not mean that we should stop giving these abuses of power a good kick in the crutch now and then.

Diplomacy if fine, but when someone is grabbed by the ***** at the same time, if focuses the mind more so.

I think the UK banks are gaining market share as a result of the mess European banks are in. Even American banks like JPM are acting stupidly. £1.2bln is not much, but they lost it.

Are JPM positions short or long now? can we get such information?

One last comment on Leveson enquiry. (For today.)

The public at the moment seem demoralised and politically apathetic.

The reasons being given for their disillusionment is that they think the government and a large percentage of politicians are corrupt and arrogant. Also, they resent the fact that the politician seem to think that they can get a get away with their often "criminal" actions.

From whatever political position you evaluate the evidence already given to the Leveson enquiry, it seems bad to me. If the problems are not seen to be remedied and penalties paid, similar attitudes will percolate down to the "lower" classes, who may think they can get away with other ways of "thieving" or "robbery".

Already, we have seen mass civil disobedience and open criminality once this year.

(Was it copycat, or emulation of what they have seen the political leaders doing in a slightly different way? (An abuse of others.)


If a tree is rotten at the top, the disease, more often not descends, to its roots. Public figures should be seen to be attempting to be cleaner than clean.

The enquiry and its findings may expose problems and possible actions to resolve some of them.

If heads roll, as many expect, so be it. But the results of this enquiry may lead to a cleansing of politics.

Probably, the above is a little hopeful.
