Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

N,
One last comment on Leveson enquiry. (For today.)
The public at the moment seem demoralised and politically apathetic.
The reasons being given for their disillusionment is that they think the government and a large percentage of politicians are corrupt and arrogant. Also, they resent the fact that the politician seem to think that they can get a get away with their often "criminal" actions.
From whatever political position you evaluate the evidence already given to the Leveson enquiry, it seems bad to me. If the problems are not seen to be remedied and penalties paid, similar attitudes will percolate down to the "lower" classes, who may think they can get away with other ways of "thieving" or "robbery".
Already, we have seen mass civil disobedience and open criminality once this year.
(Was it copycat, or emulation of what they have seen the political leaders doing in a slightly different way? (An abuse of others.)
If a tree is rotten at the top, the disease, more often not descends, to its roots. Public figures should be seen to be attempting to be cleaner than clean.
The enquiry and its findings may expose problems and possible actions to resolve some of them.
If heads roll, as many expect, so be it. But the results of this enquiry may lead to a cleansing of politics.
Probably, the above is a little hopeful.
======
Hays, I am surprised by you evaluation of what the public care about.

Nothing seems to be of any importance so far in the enquiry. It all seems to be a waste of money. Brown doesn't come out of it very well.

Most of these enquiries are a complete waste of tax payers money. How much is this particular enquiry costing? At the end of the day the Leveson enquiry will probably produce another whitewash and achieve nothing. We listen to a bunch of overpaid legal non-entities wibbling on, enjoying their time on Sky Televison, etc. How much money has this country wasted in the last few years on public enquiries that produce reams of documents which tell us what we know already.

LOL!
Perhaps, the enquiries could use E-mails, or even text messages!
If governments wern't corrupt they wouldn't need some of the enquiries.
I suppose you could shortcut them and take out half a dozen MPs and Executives and shoot them every few months,
That would keep the Bs in their places.

Again what amuses me, is those who claim that we have a democracy and vaunt its qualities resist its necessary investigations.
What they probably mean, is we want "our" form of democracy which allows or keeps us in control.
LOL
Though, not to much.

Only one more day before I flee the country.

Tanker, You are wrong. He married a girl age 9. The rest of your statement is completely wrong.
I cannot imagine that a girl at that age can get married, but there were doing many wrong things then.

The UK age of consent in England was set to 12 in 1275. It was then lowered to 10 at the end of the 16th century. It was still 13 in 1875. Therefore it is not that strange for mohammed born in ad 570. In Spain it is currently 13.

Some 400 Athletic Bilbao fans missed out on seeing their team in last week's Europa League final after accidentally flying to the wrong country.
The fans of the Basque team had clubbed together to charter a jet specially for the match to ensure that they could not be undone by airline schedules, industrial action or any other unforeseen cancellation.
There was only one tiny flaw in their plan: instead of chartered a flight to the Romanian capital of Bucharest, they chartered one to Budapest, in neighbouring Hungary.
They only discovered their mistake when they landed in the wrong country, but the plucky fans immediately set about trying to make the 400-mile dash to the Arena Nationala in Bucharest by car, train or bus... though on realising that their return flight was booked for just a few hours after the final whistle, they reluctantly had to accept that they would have to watch on TV.
Still, maybe they were better off not making it after all: Bilbao were well-beaten 3-0 by Atletico Madrid on the night.
And they can further console themselves with the knowledge that their mistake is a common one: even the official UEFA stadium announcer at the match opened proceedings by booming out a cheery "Good evening, Budapest!" over the PA system before the match kicked off.
