I'm going to take my glass of champagne to bed, if that's OK with you, Storm. Sleep well everybody!

Gotta blow,
Goodnight all

Good morning all, another wet day in the big "C".
I used to have dog that got done for sheep worrying, it used to sit on the gate and shout "Mint Sauce" at the sheep!

Morning all, quiet in here so a nice cool glass of orange juice anbd cranberry I think. [Therefore I am}.
See Socs big "C" is still wet, and on a sat. morning, remarkable; would have thought it would have dried a little by now.
Apparently SA doesn't have half terms jj, suprised more uk parents dont emigrate plus its much more the 'norm' to do the old colonial thing and board the little blighters. Great idea imho.
18 yrs later, meet 'em on the station and say "hello, we're your mater & pater,
now bugger orf and getta job and send 85% of your earnings home".
Seems fair enough to moi.
Comments please..............

Good afternoon all,
Filthy day in South London, making trolley grand prix more onerous than usual, so enough said about that! Decided therefore to retire to this haven of serenity, and make fresh pot of tea to calm down, before considering luncheon.
jeffmack,
Courtesy of hotmail patented (and legendary) delayed delivery system, your e-mail arrived one hour ago, thank you for that.
jj50,
I am sure half-term will be a joy......
lw,
Aaahhh for the return of the old values, but then we would have no past to get sentimental about, bit of a conundrum...

Time for ten minutes of peace ........
SC - Yes, it is a time of joy. He is great fun but he is 17 and doesn't stop eating. He has had two lunches already and only getting this break because he has fallen asleep on sofa after late night last night! Don't say he is big enough to get his own food, results in fridge being hoovered out and bare..
LW - He effectively is a boarder but boarding ain't what it used to be. It is all "flexible and parent friendly" and as I just live up the hill, he just heads home for fresh clothes, refreshment and a bit of entertainment. Am not complaining though, this one is the youngest and I will miss him when he has flown the nest!
Better do my duty and head off to the supermarket for the second time today!
Hope the antique fair had rich pickings, Socs. Have a good afternoon all.

I'm also in London today, SC, and this weather is foul. I've read the Weekend FT, updated every spreadsheet I can think of and drunk so much coffee I'm already twitching and bouncing off the walls! No food in this flat so I will be driven out into the murk at some point but at this point I'm more likely to buy a DVD player and a few DVDs than food.
I know....sad creature.....never got the hang of video/DVD thingies. I heard there was a new format coming out and I needed a particular type of DVD player but can't remember what it was.....can anybody help? Even if I did buy one, I'd need some recommended DVD titles too I suppose.
I'll probably chicken out and raid Waterstones for more books this afternoon. I can understand what to do with those!

Priscilla,
Sorry for delayed reply, had to go and do lunch. New format DVD may or may not take off, rumour is there is already another on the way which is better.......go figure!
In this weather DVD beats food every time, good hunting!

The big "C" is of course Cheltenham, and it is still precipitating with some malevolence. Done the antique fair, very nice it was too. Somebody here used to collect carriage clocks with alarms, nice one at the fair, only 5500. Obviously a snip.
I'll go downmarket for lunch, a spot of Spag Bol will do nicely.

Weather crap in Hastings as well, I eneded up going to bed at 0200 last night then spent about 3 hours listening to the wind and rain, managed to get up at 11)) this morning!
P and S do you mean Blue Ray as the new format for DVD? If so I would not delay buying a DVD player depending on that, the current DVD format will be here for a while and the players can be bought for about 40+. I would buy one anyway.

If you are venturing out again, may I offer a stiff brandy to fortify you, and who knows it may put you off the silly idea entirely and you could stay and relax...

Chocolat, why water today....now I feel guilty (she said pouring a glass of Cab Sauv.) .... it is the week-end isn't it?
Well we have had sunshine all day and it still shining through the trees but I think we are having tomorrow what you have today, so shall "batten down the hatches" or whatever the saying is!
Is the difference with the expensive DVD as opposed to the cheapos, that you can record on them in the same way as a VCR? I just have bog standard but it is much appreciated!
Socs, I assume you don't need a DVD as you are sitting admiring the new carriage clock.
Evening Stormie and Spaceman ........
