Post if you are still in trouble in the morning.

Optimist..many thanks..appreciate that.

With Win XP how do I group my programs on the start menu into folders. I have too many programs on the start menu so I want to goup things like MS Office into their own folder.

Optimist - 02 May 2004 12:21 - 1678 of 11003

Easiest way is to open windows explorer (richt click start button then explore) then click on the Programms Folder and create new folders for your program groups. Once you have created your groups you can drag the program shortcuts around in explorer or by right click and drag on the start menu.

Remember that the Program Menu in XP is a combination of the ALL Users shortcuts and those of your personal profile.

Thanks Optimist, worked a treat

Optomist.Good tip that.

Martini - 03 May 2004 13:28 - 1681 of 11003

Is it me or is everyone getting lots of windows updates recently?

Optimist - 03 May 2004 13:53 - 1682 of 11003

Martini

I should check your update settings. The last batch that I had on XP were on 19th April

I seem to have been getting one every two days recently. Where do I find my update settings please?

This is an interesting twist. It's the first time I've seen it in a virus email. The name of the attachment looks at first sight to end in .txt, thereby making it safe to open, but in fact ends in .pif, making it an executable program.

Content-Type: application/octet-stream;
name="detail3.txt .pif"

Optimist - 03 May 2004 15:11 - 1685 of 11003

Martini

Start Button - Right Click My Computer - Select Properties then the Automatic Updates Tab.

Kayak

You could detect that with a rule that flaged long attachment names. So far as I know Outlook does not do this but do you know if it could be done by running a script when an attachment arrives?

Kayak - 03 May 2004 16:16 - 1686 of 11003

Don't know optimist. I rely on looking at the raw text of the email before opening any with an attachment. Virus scanners are for wimps :-) This one fooled me long enough to open the email, but I realised before opening the attachment itself. Mind you I should have got a grey warning box if I had done that.

Sorry to be a nuisance, computer probs and using other computer.

How do I get a new window up each time I open up internet explorer? It is grabbing an already open window and using that

Optimist - 07 May 2004 16:34 - 1688 of 11003

2Abbey

Try Tools/Internet Options, click on the advanced tab and make sure the option "Reusue windows for launching shortcuts" (under browsing) is unchecked.

2Abbey - 07 May 2004 16:53 - 1689 of 11003

Thanks Optimist, I thought that was it.

It is unchecked, does it require a restart?

Optimist - 07 May 2004 17:09 - 1690 of 11003

You shouldn't need a restart but it nevre does any harm.

Garibaldi - 10 May 2004 13:01 - 1691 of 11003

If anyone can help I would appreciate it, I have just updated to Norton IS 2004 - but it seems to be blocking the streaming feed...I have disabled as many of the settings as I can but as soon as I enable it the streaming stops. Maybe someone has encountered this problem. I have made no other changes to the system. Thanks in advance.

In the log is says

TCP non-syn/non-ack packet on invalid connection. Packet has been dropped
Source IP address: streamer.moneyam.com(193.243.128.76)
Destination IP address: ABCD-000006(81.76.191.12)

Garibaldi,

Jonathan may have some suggestions to point you in the right direction on this one. I will ask him and post the results here.

Thanks Ian.

Jules - 10 May 2004 13:13 - 1694 of 11003

I would appreciate some help as well, if possible.
I need to connect another screen . I have a disused laptop so would rather not invest in another tft. Can I connect this to the laptopI normally use and utilise it as an extra screen? If so, how?
Thanks in advance
