How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

No stats on Man U but you may find them elsewhere.

"The only prob with backing barca is there is no real incentive for them to go and win the game - the result as it stands suits them"

I agree, It's down to Chelsea to win it now.

Harlosh - 08 Mar 2005 20:52 - 1678 of 10502

Backed the draw, not Barca.

Fundamentalist - 08 Mar 2005 20:52 - 1679 of 10502

thanks for the stats scrip

Copper, the longer you leave it the worse the odds will get for the Barca win. Barca could score of course but it's better to have definate cash now than the possibility of some later.

You should see a zero liability on the match now as you have bought back your stake.

To green up divide the amount in green by the lay price. Switch on the P&L settings and test the bet before you attempt to place anything.

1-0 milan

Fundamentalist - 08 Mar 2005 21:03 - 1682 of 10502

All going on in the chelsea game, betfair though barca had scored then chelsea go up the other end and keeper makes a good save

Harlosh - 08 Mar 2005 21:04 - 1683 of 10502

Well you can't expect a team who can't beat Crystal Palace to beat Milan in Milan can you.

Scripophilist - 08 Mar 2005 21:05 - 1684 of 10502

Man U out by the look of it, again...

It will be gutting if none of our four get through.

people might finally accept that the premiership isnt the strongest league

to be honest, until the english sides play less games (on a par with the continental sides) then they will always struggle to compete on a level playing field - not sure that its the right thing for the premiership (especially the smaller clubs) but it will always count against the sides in europe

Scripophilist - 08 Mar 2005 21:08 - 1689 of 10502

Click on settings next to view P&L and make sure P&L box is ticked.

Scripophilist - 08 Mar 2005 21:09 - 1690 of 10502

Copper if you are green in equal amounts on all three you will be fine.

Harlosh - 08 Mar 2005 21:09 - 1691 of 10502

I can't bare to watch it anymore. They are a different class.
Just one thing I can never understand about English football is why, when they are paid up to 100,000 a week can they not pass a ball to their own team instead of to the opposition.

Copper - 08 Mar 2005 21:09 - 1692 of 10502

yep clicked settings middle box ticked

Fundamentalist - 08 Mar 2005 21:11 - 1693 of 10502

Don't know Steve, I've thrown my teddy out. I'm in a room without a TV. My wife won't put up with any more 'F'ing and jeffing.
