Mediwatch - Watch them rocket in 2005 !!! (MDW)

overgrowth - 12 May 2005 22:21

Mediwatch is a small company destined to become a much bigger fish by the time this year is out. Mediwatch are already a market leader in urological medical diagnostics equipement and are currently exporting their products throughout the UK, Canada, Europe, India and Japan. That doesn't leave much of the globe left for them to capture - until you remember the good ol' US and China. These are the two massive markets which are destined to be added to MDW's export client portfolio by the end of 2005.

The company is currently heavily undervalued. This is probably because Mediwatch's speciality is not a very glamourous business to be in as their equipment is used extensively to diagnose prostate cancer in men and other nasty urological conditions affecting both men and women. However, don't let that put you off investing in these guys. This is big business and is growing at an exponential rate as more and more people globally become health-aware as they get older.

Mediwatch normally supply their products through to global markets via distribution agreements. They already have the best of distribution partners in the well known US medical distributor CR Bard who supply Canada and Europe and GE Medical who supply Japan. The UK business is handled by Mediwatch's own dedicated sales team.

US FDA approval was gained for MDW's products at the start of last year, however a whole year of US legal wrangling meant that they were unable to seek a suitable partner for the crucial distribution agreement until the start of this year. This distribution agreement is expected by the board to have a "significant effect" on the share price so they are reluctant to give any clues as to when it will be signed, sealed and delivered. The general consensus is that this US distribution agreement will be announced in July/August. In China and Hong Kong, MDW have done things the other way round. They have set up distribution agreements with major Asian medical equipment distributors and have stock already out there waiting to sell into the markets - all they are waiting for is SDA approval (which is a "rubber stamp") from the Chinese authorities - this can take anything up to 12 months to come through and MDW applied during Autumn 2004 - so even more good news coming soon this year. Epidemiological data from British Association of Urology conference last year: On average 30-45% of all men between the age of 50 and 70 have at least one PSA test per year in the US / Italy / Australia.

If that's not enough to convince you to invest a few hard earned coppers in MDW, they are also developing a PSA stick test product (PSAWatch) which is revolutionary and causing some excitement in medical circles. This product can also be adapted (at very low cost) for a whole spectrum of medical disciplines from Cardiology to Veterinary Practice! This product is likely to be released in the next few weeks. Philip Stimpson the CEO has said that this product is going to be their "gold mine" - I'm sure it will prove to be ours too.

Thanks pt. one thing less to perplex me :-)

overgrowth - 10 Jun 2005 11:45 - 170 of 1497

pth - I agree that all the indicators are showing "overbought" and that there are several investors who've been caught out by the sudden rise and fall of the sp on rumour.

This time it's different - it's apparent to all that several company transforming news items are getting very close, as are the results in early July.

Not much volume today, though still a good degree of buying interest. If the buying interest keeps up through June we'll be looking at some very large gains to come.

Should there be a waning of buying interest, then it may be possible to top-up at 9.5p before the really big push up.

Seemingly not very much volume anywhere today, all pretty boring really. Should have played golf and being pleasantly surprised (or not!) when getting home.

A few more buys today than sells, although MMs keeping the price down, possibly to tree shake a few more.

Not worried, will watch and wait.

The MMs are lowering the offer quickly but keeping the bid the same - looks as though they're trying to attract a bit of buying now they've got some shares to sell lol!

smudge1004 - 10 Jun 2005 15:14 - 173 of 1497

og, its only 1 mm on 10p the rest are at 10.75 and 11

overgrowth - 10 Jun 2005 15:19 - 174 of 1497

smudge - doesn't that mean that all the buyers will be going to the guy on 10p until he runs out ?

I suspect that there are a few folk waiting in the wings to see if they can get the shares a bit cheaper still.

smudge1004 - 10 Jun 2005 16:35 - 175 of 1497

og, it does mean that, just pointing out if we have a few big buys he would be shifted and the next on offer is 10.75

hsve a good weekend

ptholden - 13 Jun 2005 19:23 - 176 of 1497

Not a great deal of activity at the moment, could do with 'the' news to provide a little more impetutus, before it slides back again.

overgrowth - 13 Jun 2005 20:02 - 177 of 1497

pth - yep pretty dull day all round - much like Friday yawn.

Fortunately, I'd other things to do today so didn't feel obliged to be watching paint dry.

June options expiries are upon us - this may liven up things as the week progresses.

Even if not "the" news, there's always the PSAWatch launch and SDA approval news which could pop up at any time. BAUS conference/exhibition in a couple of weeks (doesn't time fly?) and prelims in around 3 weeks!

overgrowth - 15 Jun 2005 11:04 - 178 of 1497

I've just seen elsewhere that MDW have said that the prelims are at the end of this month rather than 6th of July (based on last years prelims.).

A couple of reasonably large trades today suggests that the next moves are going to be up and the ease at which the price moves, still suggests that the MMs aren't holding many MDW shares at all.

Any sustained buying in the results run up over the next couple of weeks is likely to send the price soaring.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall where the negotiations with Medtronic are going on. Posters on other boards are suggesting that a heavy hitter like Medtronic would be inclined to just buy out Mediwatch, though it's thought that the board will be looking for a hefty premium on the current price when they're expecting to grow Mediwatch into a sizeable company able to command a share price of 1+.

Was just thinking about posting here after seeing that buy go through. Fully agree that the MMs do not have much stock, but we could do with the first bit of news to keep the price rolling. I don't know a great deal about Medtronic (perhaps i should do some research!) but it may not suit them to buy out MDW, rather depends on their corporate strategy.

We should see this rally continue through 12p as the results are so close.

Ticking up very nicely!

smudge1004 - 15 Jun 2005 13:55 - 182 of 1497

l2 is looking very strong for a breakout

Here's the promotional material for the PSA test sticks "PSAWatch" (i.e. the real big money earner) to be released shortly.

It looks as though MDW are going to generate a lot of interest at the BAUS conference.

Everything's coming together nicely.

OG, Afternoon, A lot of confidence now enveloping MDW, pleased for everyone involved. Rgds.

andysmith - 15 Jun 2005 18:43 - 185 of 1497

Bollocks!! Scraped together more dosh today, choice, top-up SEO or MDW, both of whom will struggle to keep a lid on sp when next RNS's issued. Opted for SEO as I think running out of time for one last top-up and thought MDW might last until the end of the month!!! More dosh next week for MDW, am hoping that sp will hold for one more week or am I just a greedy git!!

ptholden - 15 Jun 2005 19:08 - 186 of 1497

greedy git!!!!!!

jnknill - 15 Jun 2005 20:27 - 187 of 1497

Andy, A honest, greedy git! Good Luck.

andysmith - 15 Jun 2005 20:33 - 188 of 1497

Cheers folks, I know I'm a greedy git but one more week won't harm us, we've waited all year so far but I believe the wait will be worth it.
Shall I e-mail Mr Stimpson and ask him the hold fire on that deal until July!!
Only joking.
