FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

A Santa rally would be nice.....for those of us who like to see stocks increase in value! ;o)

Shortie - 12 Dec 2014 08:57 - 16904 of 21973

+129.5 on Wall St yesterday, a few more days like this would be nice.

Claret Dragon - 12 Dec 2014 09:20 - 16906 of 21973

A little bit more than just tree shaking this week?

skinny - 12 Dec 2014 09:22 - 16907 of 21973

Well done Shortie - crude just gone below $63.

Shortie - 12 Dec 2014 09:43 - 16908 of 21973

Thanks Skinny, yeah I'm keeping an eye on crude, and jet fuel and also gold, silver in the metals market. Worth noting the decline in the Chinese construction market, might take a look at cement and steel over the weekend http://www.globalcement.com/news if I get some free time..!

yup ... picking up bits of scrap metal which i can then sell on for cash ..... got lucky and found a dumped hot-water cylinder

it gave me enough funds to double up my dow long from small to modest at 17519 (avr 17505)

cynic - 12 Dec 2014 15:18 - 16914 of 21973

Stan - 12 Dec 2014 15:30 - 16915 of 21973

cynic - 12 Dec 2014 15:32 - 16916 of 21973

hasn't modern technology caught up with you yet?
laptops (tablets and the like are too small for my liking) and mobile phones make life much easier

Claret Dragon - 12 Dec 2014 16:03 - 16917 of 21973

cynic - 12 Dec 2014 16:04 - 16918 of 21973

Claret Dragon - 12 Dec 2014 20:45 - 16920 of 21973

What an encore to end the week.

cynic - 13 Dec 2014 08:00 - 16921 of 21973

dow dropped another bundle at last knockings to finish at 17280 (-315), with a bit of further weakness after hours

cash ftse showing -65, so it's effectively guaranteed that monday will be vile as well

deltazero - 14 Dec 2014 22:22 - 16922 of 21973

absolutely fantastic - this drop exceeded my expectations but not my hope - i am very happy - hope everyone else doing well
