THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

6th june
are we going to get a rally? into the summer solstice of the longest day?
20th june 2012? highs and lows often occur at these natural time cycles of solstices and equinoxes. maybe, maybe not. it could be either but i have my mind open to such things happening.

I think many of those immigrants can have much better life in their countries. Most of them areTurkish...

These are minor issues, but show how stupid and criminal minded some of these guys are.

If the EU treaties or constitution are changed in any significant way, as they must be if banks bail outs are funded directly, then Cameron must allow a referendum on staying in or getting out of the EU.
If he doesn't then we will no doubt see similar problems here.
Several months ago I had an in depth discussion with Graham Stuart our Conservative MP, re the broken promise made by Cameron in the election manifesto re a referendum on the EU.
Mr Stuart stated that Cameron stated in 2008 (I think) that if the Conservatives won the next election then a referendum would be held BUT that this was altered in the actual manifesto to a referendum would be held if there was any 'fundamental change' in the treaty.
On spending over 2 hours reading the election manifesto, I found that Mr Stuart was correct.
Weasel words, but not un-expected by a politician.
Of course Cameron has now dug himself into a corner, but no doubt the devil will be in the detail as to what constitutes a 'fundamental change'.
No doubt the general publics interpretation will be different to Cameron's.
Remember Clintons, '"I did not have sexual relations with that woman".

But even if there is total political integration between the Euro members (there won't be), IE all policies made by Germany, this will leave the UK as a member of the EU, with even less say than we have now.
The only way to move forward is to lance the EU boil now, before it infests the whole EU body, which it almost has.
A quick cut now, or death by a thousand etc.
So a referendum, or total rejection of the Conservative party resulting in a probable Labor Government (and you think things can't get worse) and total rebellion.
Me, I'm voting UKIP!

Time to wheel this out again!

The European Union commissioners have announced that agreement has been reached to adopt English as the preferred language for European communications, rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a five-year phased plan for what will be known as EuroEnglish (Euro for short).

In the first year, "s" will be used instead of the soft "c." Sertainly, sivil servants will resieve this news with joy. Also, the hard "c" will be replaced with "k". Not only will this klear up konfusion, but typewriters kan have one less letter.

There will be growing publik emthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced by "f". This will make words like fotograf" 20 persent shorter.

In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkorage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of silent "e"s in the languag is disgrasful, and they would go.

By the fourth year, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" by "z" and "w" by " v".

During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou", and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubls or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech ozer.

Ze drem vil finali kum tru.
