FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

time you lived south of the tundra :-)
very pleasantly warm here today, but a bit soggy under foot still
greens in fantastic condition all things considered

Yeah I know... it's grim up north -):

cynic - 15 Dec 2014 20:50 - 16998 of 21973

so were you? :-)
mind you, if you were brave enough to leave your shorts running (so to speak), then you'll be doing very well

deltazero - 15 Dec 2014 21:54 - 16999 of 21973

lol -i did well but not going to blow my own trumpet as i note some dont like my style which is simply to hope everyone including myself is doing well - which is fine if so as some strange beggars out there - difficult to call right now depending on ones strategy of course and expectancy - expect to see some end position squaring plus profit taking ahead of wed’s fed monetary policy announcement to underpin the mkt

A bit more of a sell off than I expected. If December turns out to be a bad month. Is this the top again. I am trying to see the positives for UK market in 2015.

Morning all, I'm long off 6204...

cynic - 16 Dec 2014 10:15 - 17003 of 21973

certainly the markets, after an up-and-down start look to be trying to head north ..... but then that looked to be the case yesterday, so i guess full attention and managed greed required again

Fred1new - 16 Dec 2014 10:21 - 17004 of 21973

UMM,

Tell you on Friday, which way it has gone!

Stan - 16 Dec 2014 10:23 - 17005 of 21973

Shortie, On what basis... charts?

Shortie - 16 Dec 2014 10:28 - 17006 of 21973

Off this 30min, ignore the 6318.5 cross, that's just where my cursor was when I took the shot. 6243 upper cloud first resistance to push through then 6275 first target and where I'll close if all goes to plan.

Shortie - 16 Dec 2014 10:52 - 17007 of 21973

Keeping an eye on those commodities also... looks to be topping off slightly sooner than planned right now.

Shortie - 16 Dec 2014 10:54 - 17008 of 21973

6265.5 closed +61.5

Shortie - 16 Dec 2014 11:07 - 17009 of 21973

Debating another long, knew it'd come back but back to upper edge of cloud to test quick support is abit overdoing it...

Stan - 16 Dec 2014 11:18 - 17010 of 21973

Thanks, looks a bit busy for me -):

Shortie - 16 Dec 2014 11:24 - 17011 of 21973

Lol, it is, it's as busy as the markets are at any given time and then a little more as your trying to look ahead... Anyway that's me done now, might have a trade in this afternoons session once Wall St is up..

goldfinger - 16 Dec 2014 11:33 - 17012 of 21973
