2009 tips (TIPS)

skyhigh - 07 Nov 2008 10:20

Allthough it's a bit early I feel it's time to start a list on what we feel could be good tips for the next 12 months.. SPs are low and it's a good time to get in etc., (imho)

I'll start with a few of which I'm in at the moment. (IMHO)
EDD, IVE, STP, RIFT, TAN, VYKE, MED, GIP

Anyone have any others worth a look ?

Think I'm winning so far ... post 4.

cynic - 03 Jan 2009 08:39 - 18 of 32

of the tiddlers i hold, then BLNX probably has at least as good prospects as any .... i like that there is a continuous trickle of news from them, and as the company grows, there has to be a fair chance that one of the bigger players will take the company out

i would also like to think that yesterday's tripling of EO's price was not an aberration ..... however, i do not believe it! .... nevertheless, at least this is one oilie minnow that is operating in safe waters, so to speak

Bank of England expected to reduce interest rates by 1% this week .

required field - 03 Jan 2009 13:20 - 20 of 32

Not a good idea, they are low enough.....it won't make any difference except for industry !.

mitzy - 03 Jan 2009 18:32 - 21 of 32

I agree some accounts are paying less than 1% already if they reduce again customers will be paying banks to look after their savings its madness.

aldwickk - 03 Jan 2009 21:00 - 22 of 32

Afren & Centamin [AFR & CEY ] , as they are the only stocks I own

argos7 - 05 Jan 2009 16:22 - 23 of 32

Loq is a good bet for 2009, profit will be 1.9million for 2008 market cap of 6million and cash in the bank of more than 1million. Three more parks added so for for 2009,europe parks to be annouced in the spring.

How about MPE? Market cap about 118M at 225p, but net assets end of June were $266M (around 180M, trade essentially in $), plus reserve in F/D earmarked for disposal at around $50M. Net cash $25M after deducting borrowings - and before any inputs from property sales in Indonesia.Activities after those property sales will be 70% palm oil in Indonesia and 30% beef cattle in Australia. Shares punished recently on drop in palm oil prices and Australian drought, but still profitable and trading at substantial discount to net assets. Not for widows and orphans, but I hold and think it will reward the patient - also gives me the chance to check the weather in Queensland (been raining last week, which may have helped the share price!) Always DYOR

I'm adding Faroe Petroleum to my list (a little late I might say) (FPM) see stock !.

moneyplus - 09 Jan 2009 23:53 - 29 of 32

The hot money is heading for Ramco energy ROS. Very big news on size of contracts in Iraq imminent--rumours are spreading fast all is signed up and it's massive!! Also expecting Gov. contracts in Scotland due out on Jan 19th for the Sea energy side of the business. Nothing concrete yet on either though so DYOR and read the thread on the other side.

TheVoid - 11 Jan 2009 14:58 - 30 of 32

I'm a bit late here - just noticed the thread - but I'll stick my neck out and go for

10p START

spitfire43 - 11 Jan 2009 20:31 - 32 of 32

I will go for J D Sports (JD.) the share is bombed out, but could be turning up. Trading statement last Friday which said profits to be marginally ahead of expectation, unheard of in todays high street. And they have cash in the bank.
