SUPPORT THE BOARD

gardyne - 27 Jun 2003 21:48

I AM NEW TO THIS BOARD BUT HAVE RECENTLY RECEIVED GOOD INFORMATION FROM MANY POSTERS.FOR ANY BOARD TO BE A SUCCESS THE MORE POSTS ABOUT DIFFERENT COMPANIES THE BETTER LET THE READER DECIDE WHAT IS GENUINE.JUST POST IT AND SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE.

little woman - 30 Jun 2003 18:25 - 17 of 37

There seem to be a lot of people just reading the various treads, but not so many actually posting.

I presume this is because they feel they have nothing to say! It would be really usefully if people could occasionally say Hi so we know that you are out there!

Paulismyname - 30 Jun 2003 19:46 - 18 of 37

As I said on the penny shares thread, there is quite a lot of activity on the premium BB, I honestly think that you would all be quite satisfied with the content. (no commercial connection with Moneyam)

Dailos - 30 Jun 2003 21:32 - 19 of 37

Paulismyname
When you asked for a penny share a few weeks back, i nearly said have a sh*t or bust punt on CST (then 0.07p!)i heard they should make money next year, didnt post for fear of mass ridicule!
Gone up a bit since then and today they announce they should make money next year, i dont trust the management (used to be Upton and Southern) so only bought a few at 0.07p, thrown them in the dog drawer and will look again to see if they are still trading in a few years time, not for widows etc and best avoided so nobody buy on my advice, chuck them on your stockwatch out of interest though.

-- little woman,

Personally, I think it's the opposite - people can't be bothered to post because of the feeling that there's hardly anyone to read what they post. Or that if they do post that some tendentious arsehole (ains tribe & the anti-ains) will ignite a flamestorm.

Sorry, this isn't very positive, but that's how I see it.

MightyMicro - 30 Jun 2003 23:15 - 21 of 37

zzaxx99: which is exactly why ains+alaises and the anti-ains lot were removed from the BB. All sound and fury signifying nothing.

I remember when the ADVFN FBB was a desert, complete with tumbleweed rolling across the scene. For a year or so there were continual calls for it to be shut down or merged with the PBB. Gradually the traffic picked up and then snowballed. Give MoneyAM time. It takes time to build a business.

The way Clem runs his end of course it will take a lot less time.

Paulismyname - 01 Jul 2003 10:48 - 23 of 37

Thanks Dailos, I will do that

Paul

lesk - 01 Jul 2003 12:25 - 24 of 37

Kayak, strange comment :x .. you obviously noted how well ADVFN is doing again.. vibrant board these days... :)

Kayak - 01 Jul 2003 12:53 - 25 of 37

The activity on the free board is not relevant, it's the number of paying customers and how much they pay...

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 01 Jul 2003 13:05 - 26 of 37

Kayak,
for advertising revenue, the number of people on the free board *is* relevant...

J.

Kayak - 01 Jul 2003 13:16 - 27 of 37

That's true Jon, the number is, but Clem counts all the accounts which have been dormant for years so as far as I know the activity is not relevant...

lesk - 01 Jul 2003 13:24 - 28 of 37

Kayak.. I view the posts, posters and active threads, add to that the quantity of refreshes and page changes... I think ADVFN's advertising 'hit' rate is pretty high, and I did a CT to Hoodless the other day and opened a trading account...... should I say more??? [I'm atypical poster, or not???]

Kayak - 01 Jul 2003 13:33 - 29 of 37

lol, nothing typical about you, lesk :-)

lesk - 01 Jul 2003 13:35 - 30 of 37

I take that in the vein it was meant!!! [bitch!] :@)))

MightyMicro - 01 Jul 2003 15:44 - 31 of 37

And today (July 1) 223 posts on the Traders' Thread at 15:40 . . . hardly a dead board.

MM

lesk - 01 Jul 2003 17:31 - 32 of 37

my god!!! that almost equates to a few hours on my MMD thread MM, well done!! [must be almost as much rubbish on there as I'm used to on MMD]... LOL!!!

Great Effort guys!!! almost upto a decent posting standard, I will have to beware.... [the competition is good, but not that good...] :)

MightyMicro - 01 Jul 2003 20:21 - 33 of 37

lesk: You know, the Traders' Thread has a lot of good stuff about *trading shares* on it. Posted by people who make money.

Unlike the MMD thread (oh sorry, *your* MMD thread).

lesk - 02 Jul 2003 15:19 - 34 of 37

MM - your right about it being mine... and what's more it is now a private BB and achieved critical mass of 45 constant active members on day one... [not that i'm bragging or anything]... :) Still with our joint interests in other shares I'm sure we will pursue a wide range of topics on *MY* BB... :) :)

Still, I will keep coming on here and help you keep the vibrancy up... unless you decide to ban me... which will mean one less shortcut on my PC :)

lesk - 02 Jul 2003 20:30 - 35 of 37

MM - I can understand why you spend so much time in the bar at Sardinesplaice.com, after all if is very convivial compared to here... :) or is it the Barmaid???? :x

MightyMicro - 02 Jul 2003 21:15 - 36 of 37

It's convivial, of course, just not much discussion about shares, investment and such like -- unless you count the top two stock threads: MMD and TWT.

Here you get live L1, indices, L2 and mobile streaming service, a bit more than a bulletin board. And a great deal more to come.

I just don't think that they are the same thing. It's not a competition.
