The 2013 full year preliminary results for RSA Insurance Group plc was announced 27 February 2014.

"3 FOR 8 RIGHTS ISSUE AT 56 PENCE PER NEW ORDINARY SHARE
Further to the announcement on 27 February of its preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2013, RSA Insurance Group plc ("RSA" or the “Company”) today announces the launch of a rights issue to raise £773 million in proceeds (£748 million net of expenses) (the “Rights Issue”). The Issue Price of 56 pence per New Ordinary Share represents a discount of approximately 40% to the closing price of 93.4 pence on 24 March 2014 (being the last business day prior to the release of this announcement) and a 32.7% discount to the theoretical ex-rights price based on the closing price on 24 March 2014."

Little downside and good dividends. Whats there to lose?

namreh3 - 15 Nov 2004 13:57 - 18 of 761

Downside appears to be long term exposure to US asbestos claims and the possibility of upping the reserves to meet costs from the billion raised. Also income has dropped off due to sale of several businesses. You are correct JG as to divi est approx 6% next year but with the US hanging over RSA and slow growth some SP estimates I have seen appear wildly over-optimistic (no pun intended Opto!)
IMO this share should be traded- buying in in low 70p's/high 60p's and dumping when opportunity arises to crystallise gains - possibly in the 78-81p range.

namreh3 - 17 Nov 2004 14:57 - 19 of 761

Did anyone else make a few groats sleeing RSA at 78 and buying in after the frenetic drop to 75 in a few seconds, a couple of minutes ago. Any ideas as to reason for sudden fall? US panic?

babykitcat - 17 Nov 2004 15:22 - 20 of 761

im in at 74p will have to see what this SO called speculation is about that may happen!!

babykitcat - 17 Nov 2004 15:32 - 21 of 761

no smoke without fire NATWEST STOCKBROKERS will not confirm a selling price over the internet anymore

namreh3 - 17 Nov 2004 15:42 - 22 of 761

interesting! lots of RSA stock picked up between 77.5 and 78p this afternoon and is looking to break towards the 80p level. The debt rating confirmation may have settled some nerves.

optomistic - 17 Nov 2004 17:39 - 23 of 761

Over 159 million shares traded (recorded on am trades) and a price rise of
5 3/4p could this be the start of an interesting period of sp movement for RSA?
I would not be surprised if it were and I am indeed hopeful.

Rebels - 17 Nov 2004 18:38 - 24 of 761

The shares gained 7.8%, or 5.75p to 79.5p, on reports that American International Group (AIG) is mulling over a bid for the UK insurer. RSA refused to comment on the speculation.

Hyphan - 19 Nov 2004 09:11 - 27 of 761

A possible bid around 95p is muted - so we could easily expect 85p soon !!

optomistic - 19 Nov 2004 09:34 - 28 of 761

95p not enough!!!!!

Hyphan - 19 Nov 2004 11:46 - 29 of 761

I agree optomistic that 95p is not enough but it would be a good start!

namreh3 - 19 Nov 2004 14:09 - 30 of 761

2x1M trades and 1x500k at 78.25. Nice stability today.

Hi 213812,
You are probably missing one of the great facilities that is available on am site. Just click on charts in the header and enter the epic of the stock you wish to research. Also if required select the indicators that you would like to see.
Hope this helps you.

Still think these a good investment at this level (bought again at 74.5p)
A lot more upside than downside IMHO.

optomistic - 28 Nov 2004 12:32 - 34 of 761

Good luck there Hyphan, I share your views on this one, a lot more on the upside. I don't think it is going to be an easy ride but I have hopes of RSA turning into a good winner. All our views of course but as a reward for the longer term holders divi is paid this Tuesday.

Hyphan - 29 Nov 2004 14:03 - 35 of 761

opto - I think I've joined in far too late to get this divi (probably xd date was a month back) - but expect to be on board for the next one as I intend to hold with a target of 150p. Once this gets rolling it will soon climb IMHO.

namreh3 - 29 Nov 2004 14:24 - 36 of 761

Record date was 20th August Hyphan. Long time comin'!
