rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.
for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ
for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Shortie - That's fine, rarely trade small caps anyway. As long as they offer quarterlies and spreads are tighter than ETX will do the job. Thanks for that.

It's all about keeping our natural weight in balance, amount of food, quality of food and amount of daily exercise done... but agree easier said then done.

shortie - sorry to sound even more pompous than usual, but it's amazing how many people use weights or even (gym) exercise totally incorrectly .... if you've been taught properly and have the discipline to work out hard at home, then good luck to you
for myself, i'm very happy to spend my money on a good, properly qualified professional trainer and know that i'll gain plenty of benefit with minimal risk of injury

I been using free weights and kettle bells since I left school, I've learnt more about weight technique from ex cons than anyone else... I don't drink wine, maybe a beer every now and then but do like Jack, Jonney, Jim and James!!
Chris, can't comment on how tight City spreads are to ETX as never used ETX. All I know is City works for me and I have no complaints. No doubt there are other companies that may be better or spread wise might pay a few quid more, I'm happy for now where I am and with the tools they offer.

Cynic ive kept fit for years, never change the programme. No probs at all. Mind I was obviously a lot younger and my body more supple than these day, when I started, plus like you played rugby union and at a good level semi pro for Leeds Carnegie.
So yep did get some professional input.

Manuel,
Just being awkward.
Have you examined the professional qualifications of your trainer?
If so what have you evaluated them against?
