As obvious as it sounds, I must admit ( I will go stand in the corner ) of accepting it as a buy, but as you say it shows unknown. This though does not help us as I presume the market makers/brokers through the market know if buy or sell and as the sp did not move much we are none the wiser.

Just a suggestion. An inter fund deal, maybe even within the same company?

I think this shares still got a bit of a bumpy ride ahead after all the

There's a few members of SEO's BOARD that I'd quite happily substitute for the ball.

They are listed as unknown, because the software that MAM uses to determine sells / buys places the trade dependant on which side of the mid price it is reported. On this occasion the price was at the mid so the software puts it in the unknown category. You have no way of knowing if they were buys or sells, and just because the SP did not fall, do not assume that they were not sells, conversley the opposite applies. Following a significant sized placing there is always a possibility that one of the institutions who took up the offer may have turned their position around for a quick 180k, nice work if you can get it. The whole point being that you can work up any story to explain those trades, good or bad.

Yes, I agree there is no way of knowing if buy or sell, but the market must know.
As far as I am aware,the deal can only be done through the market. That's what throws me. After a deal that size no big movement. Oh well this subject is getting a bit hammered so I will give it a rest.

A 6 mill plus overnight BC trade has just come up as a sell 9p. I give up. Will just wait and see.

MAM showing the SP as 10.50 now (7:50 am) - Thats quite a leap if it really opens there. Would suggest a buy(?).

It does that every morning Oblo - until the MM's get their prices sorted out. Then miraculously - just before 8 am - the price usually goes back to within .25 of its closing price - unless of course there is big news to effect its sp.

I think I'll restrict myself to one look a day just before 8 in future - ignorance is bliss!

Yes it's true I spotted them on the No 9 bus going down Oxford St.

I can confirm that - there they go. Unfortunately, the bus was heading the wrong way up the bus lane, they arrived late and missed the meeting!

Evening all - a quick thought on the subject of competition, e.g. from the likes of BASF as discussed a few posts back.

I would assume that the market is large enough to support a number of players and that even the first/the best would not corner more than a sizeable chunk thereof. There is also the issue of speed of roll-out internationally, gearing-up of manufacture, etc. all of which takes time and allows competitors to play.

IMO this pizza's big enough for everyone to have a bite.

Forgive me if I am a bit reluctant on my sources, but all he will allow me to say is that he is a senior buyer within an Asda department, who are particularly affected by the Starpol and Greenseal trials.
In discussion with him over the weekend he told me several key things.
1) Walmart looking over the trials and new packaging is absolute company policy. They would do that regardless of any interest in the product. It is as much about ensuring Asda are aware of big brother as much as anything. It is WM policy to be very overt on checking up on subsidiaries and suppliers.
2) They will only buy into the SEO products if there is a demonstrable cost saving to be made. They wish to appear as good neighbours but that is ultimately second to profit.
3) Asda, and WM have a concern over the "greeness" of Starpol. While they accept that the product itself is environmentally friendly, the production of it is not. Particularly they have calculated that the raw starch material travels an astonishing 19000 air miles on its way to becoming Starpol. They are worried that if they try to capitalise on a green image, this will become public and the environmentalists will make them look a bit stupid!!
4) Apparantly, SEO are unable to promise that the starch used in Starpol is GM free. Asda and WM feel this would also tarnish the environmental badge.
My friend would not be drawn on the success or otherwise of the trials, and would only smile knowingly when I broached the Wrap subject.
In summary, he feels that Asda, and WM will buy Starpol in huge quantities, but only if those last 3 question marks can be addressed.
I apologise for not bringing this to the boards attention sooner, but I have only known this man for 5 months and until Saturday, I had no idea what he did for a living!!
My confidence is knocked somewhat, but I am staying in and seeing it out.
As usual, DYOR etc. but this source is very reliable. Remember he heads up a world wide sourcing and buying team for ASDA, with a budget measured in 9 figures, on a product range that is very closely associated with Starpol / Greenseal.
