Lambykins's Dutch Coffee House - ADULTS ONLY (LAMB)

Spaceman - 28 Jan 2005 23:56

CLOSED - THANKS to all customers for the last few years

MightyMicro - 06 Mar 2005 02:05 - 1723 of 24230

Socs: Sorry to hear that -- hope things work out OK.

little willie - 06 Mar 2005 07:46 - 1724 of 24230

Hello Socs, so sorry to hear your bad news.
As you say, these times do get the family together and thats the best place to draw comfort from.
I wish you and your family well and hopefully, your mother a full recovery.

Socrates - 06 Mar 2005 08:19 - 1725 of 24230

Good morning gang. Many thanks for the good wishes, they are all appreciated. One thing that can be relied upon with the "Cafe Crowd" is a liberal dose of support and sympathy, it is very welcome in this day and age.

Unfortunately the prognosis is not good, several strokes, an accumulation of infections and ninety nine and a half years add up to an uncertain future, so every day is a bonus.

As for today, it's bright, blue and brisk and that can only mean one thing, a full English breakfast.

Spaceman - 06 Mar 2005 08:50 - 1726 of 24230

Morning Socs, FEB sounds great, I think I will have one as well.

Your Mum sounds like a bit of a fighter? to still be here after all that illness and at 99.5, whatever happens she must have had an interesting life.

Socrates - 06 Mar 2005 09:39 - 1727 of 24230

Spaceman
You are right, she has seen a lot of change. I have been researching the family ancestry and her mother was born in 1878. When you look at the history books and see what events have transpired since, the mind boggles.

Spaceman - 06 Mar 2005 11:44 - 1728 of 24230

Socs, absolutely, you mum was born not long after Queen Victoria died, she has seen 2 world wars and enormous changes, she has gone from a horse driven age to the space age, she has been alive through almost the whole of the history of aviation, she has seen the rise and fall of the eastern bloc, she was born when atoms were not accepted science but she has seen the atomic age.

I am sure she has seen many ups and downs and I know its not much comfort but despite her current illness I am sure she has had a facinating life, hopefully she will have a bit more time with you and your family. Take care.

Did anyone see the story about a man who was attacked by some chimps in the news yesterday? Made me fell ill....

Socrates - 06 Mar 2005 11:53 - 1730 of 24230

Spaceman
No I didn't see it, but a gang of chimps can be extremely vicious with what seems to be a bloodlust about them. It has been observed before when they turn on one of their own kind in the wild.

Spaceman - 06 Mar 2005 12:02 - 1731 of 24230

removed for the sake of good taste !

chocolat - 06 Mar 2005 12:24 - 1732 of 24230

And a nice bright morning it is too.
We've only got my mum now...thinking of you and your mum Socks, I'll make some sherry trifle for tea.
It is mothers' day after all. :)

Afternoon all,

Socs - sorry to hear your news
Indiana - welcome
LW - sounds like he ran perfectly to get him in off a low weight soon

Ended up going to Doncaster races yesterday then out for a chinese with some friends - had 5 winners out of 7 - a cracking day, crowned off when i went to collect my winnings in the last race and the bookie looked at me and said not you again! The evening was long and highly alcoholic and the journey back across the snake pass was a bit tender on the stomach lol!

snoball - 06 Mar 2005 18:09 - 1737 of 24230

Evenin' all.
Hope your mum feels better soon Socs.
Presumably you used your secret mathematical knowledge, Fundy, to be able to pick so many winners.
