THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

As long as you reprint all the front page head lines from all of the newspapers who covered the story and the names of every one who read the story and repeated what was said .

After reading that does it not make you sound like a complete idiot.

So were did you hear that story about Dave is trying to form a coalition with the BNP and UKIP before the next election ? Get your fact's right before posting rumour's about someone and don't post on here that am a member of the BNP without any proof , calling someone a BNP member just because he as right wing views just show's how your perverted little mind works

Again, re-read your posts.

Instead of withdrawing the remark you made attempts to defend yourself for making the remarks, by blaming the "papers" and the contents which you read and then defining another individual on what many would consider the less than flimsy evidence.

That is to my mind similar to what Cameron and his crew are presently doing by continuously holding and blaming others for the mistake that they themselves are making. (Repeating a mantra, hoping that it will absolve themselves comes to mind.)

If one considers the various remarks made on various threads on this board, about various political leaders of the last labour government during and after their overall period in office and taking in to consideration the smearing by the various newspapers, who seemed to many to be in hock to the leadership of the tory party, my remarks would seem by many to be mild and hopefully for some humorous.

I was looking back through various posts a few days ago, (actually looking for a lost letter) and came across a letters criticising Blair’s actions and some of the Labour policies very early on in that “administration”. They were critical of policies but not the character or physiques of those individuals.

Also, although I don’t have any written evidence, I was critical of the Wilson, Callaghan and other Labour governments and their policies and I was extremely critical of Maggie and many of her policies and henchmen.

I am in general a political atheist and will remains so, but interested in the complexities of government and social cohesion.

Again, I suggest you re-read my postings carefully. I have never stated that you were a member of the BNP, but many of your remarks for me, seem to have much in common with some of those made by members of the BNP.

That is opinion and I have a right to it and you have the right to disregard it.

Again, “perverted little mind”, perhaps you meant “a little devious mind”. But again thinking back to some of your postings, I wonder if it is not a case of “projection”. I leave it up to you whether you consider, or dismiss my thinking.

As far as “Pub Talk” is considered, just have a drink in a few pubs and listen to what is being said. Perhaps, Dave should do it more often and get in touch. If he does I do hope he remembers his children.

Sleep well.

I have just seen the funniest story that I have read for a long time. This is from The Guardian

"Tony Blair is to be given his first formal role in the Labour party since retiring from frontline politics, when he stepped down as prime minister five years ago, as an adviser to Ed Miliband's policy review.

Blair will be reunited with leftwinger Jon Cruddas, a former aide, who was brought in by Miliband to head the policy review. Cruddas spoke recently of "reforming the band" – bringing together leading lights of New Labour – in support of Miliband.

The highly controversial move – perhaps especially within the Labour party – was announced at a fundraising event on Wednesday evening when Miliband and Blair symbolically shared a platform to make speeches.

Miliband, who was more closely allied to Gordon Brown during the 13 years of Labour government, praised Blair's role in helping the UK win the right to host the Olympics this summer in London. It was, said Miliband, "one of the many proud achievements of the governments that Tony led: saving the NHS, rebuilding our schools and cutting crime.

"I want to thank Tony for what he did for our party and for our country. And I know how committed he is to Labour winning next time."

Blair told the Labour fundraising dinner at Arsenal's Emirates stadium: "It's an honour to be here tonight to support our party, whose values and principles I have always believed in and always will. And to support Ed, support his leadership, support his drive to make our party win."

The joint appearance was organised by Alastair Campbell, Blair's spin doctor, the former Labour general secretary Lady McDonagh, and Richard Caborn, sports minister during the successful Olympic bid. Other guests at the event included the former deputy prime minister Lord Prescott and the Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

With much of his own party – and the country – still angry about the legacy of Blair's decision to take Britain into the Iraq war, and Labour's clear departure from socialism under his reign, Miliband will be aware that his new role will be controversial."

Bush House: BBC World Service moves home

The BBC World Service has been synonymous with Bush House for 70 years, but on 12 July the news is broadcast from the building for the last time. Here Bogdan Frymorgen and Emma Crowe bid farewell in sound and pictures. Below, Anna Horsbrugh-Porter talks to a producer who first heard the BBC in a Soviet labour camp, and recalls letters from African listeners addressed to The Queen, c/o Bush House.

Hays,

When you consider Blair with Cameron you have to accept that Blair at least held his party together for over 10years, while the Coalition is unravelling and the tory party disintegrating under Cameron.

(And the country is going to the dogs, and looking more and more like a military state with soldiers at the borders.)

I had no time for Blair and considered him and Cameron as shams, but the public were wooed by them.

Also, however you consider Blair he seems successful and acceptable on the international stage. Why? Don't know.

Cameron looks like a "here to-day and gone tomorrow" PM.

Ps..

I forgot Cameron has one problem that Blair didn't have, i.e. the present tory party is a self interested opportunistic rabble looking for quick bucks.
