Bad day all round Mark, looks like this one being a high bets as triggered a lot of stop losses. Correction in the US market the Yanks went to far forward too fast.

Wouldnt worry too much, we will probably pull it back in the next 10 days.

cheers GF.

Tplus Guy - 24 Feb 2004 22:38 - 181 of 242

HMMMMMM noticed Vanco has taken big hit today.Whats your thoughts on Alkane Energy GF?

Mark

goldfinger - 24 Feb 2004 23:27 - 182 of 242

Vanco might be an ideal time to climb aboard, glad you have reminded me as I was suprised at the close when I saw it had lost I think 30plus p.

Alkane sorry no view on that one just know that oil is set to stay well up with production cuts from Opec.

cheers GF.

Tplus Guy - 03 Mar 2004 10:06 - 183 of 242

why the big drop? does gf know anything or is this just a bid to drop the price before results are announced?

mark

rampage - 03 Mar 2004 10:22 - 184 of 242

When are the results due? I know the year end is 31 March but the results are not normally published until some time after
I wish I had sold at the same time as the Chairman never mind hindsight is a wonderful thing !

Tplus Guy - 03 Mar 2004 17:17 - 185 of 242

Apparantly the MM's are trying to drum up a few shares before results are out..I can tell you we are ahead of expectations and have done very well in terms of customer growth and executive applications in the last 6 months or so,in fact weve done well all year.By the way our mobile deal has just got better and weve reduced our landline talk plans so more good news..We now offer 4 p/m line rental, this should surely bring in some good results..

goldfinger - 11 Mar 2004 02:28 - 189 of 242

Yup no big problems its just the market thats gone bad and we need some newsflow from this one, as its been a bit short of it in the last few months.

Check this out folks,interesting!!

Sales army pays at Telecom plus
Midas, Mail on Sunday
14 March 2004

GETTING sales to grow without incurring high costs is a problem for small companies, but utilities reseller Telecom plus appears to have hit on an interesting solution.

Instead of relying on expensive marketing and direct sales forces, the company uses a network of independent distributors to sign up customers for its cut-price phone, gas, electricity and internet services.

These independent distributors, which currently number 12,000, mostly part-time, then take a cut of the amount spent by the customers they have signed up.

It has proved an effective way to build up more than 160,000 customers for Telecom plus, where chief executive Charles Wigoder controls 25% of the shares.

Wigoder previously founded the People's Phone retail chain and sold it to Vodafone.

Using independent distributors in this manner is also a cheap way to acquire clients, with the company's administrative costs running at less than ten% of revenues.

The growth in customers has translated into rapid rises in profits. For the financial year that closes at the end of this month, analysts expect profits of about 10.7 million, up from 6 million last time.

The shares closed last week at 337 1/2p, valuing the group at 206 million. A forecast dividend* of 9.5p leaves them yielding a prospective

Trading under the Utility Warehouse brand, about half the company's turnover comes from fixed telephony, with a third from mobile. But energy is growing quickly and customer discounts increase when they sign up for more services.

Midas verdict: Growth companies do not come cheap and Telecom plus shares trade at a heady 29 times forecast earnings per share*. However, the multiple does fall sharply on expectations for future years. Telecom plus has an interesting business model that should be capable of creating a much bigger business in the next few years. The share price has doubled over the past year, but has drifted lower from a high of 407 1/2p in January, so now looks a good time to buy.

Tplus Guy - 15 Mar 2004 15:58 - 193 of 242

Share up today 13.5 as i write..Obviously off yesterdays article.

goldfinger - 15 Mar 2004 23:31 - 194 of 242

Nice to see this one bottoming out TG. Seems to do well on days for defensive shares.

cheers GF.
