Hello bosley-ok but it depends where your average lies between 31 and 8!

I like nealo hold a substantial number of shares and it would not take much to reach my average, however agree with greekman that everyone is going to hang on every word they say and come out with different views!!

My own business has been going 65yrs - not me!! - and we have to run very fast to what it feels is standing still waiting for decisions from customers - no-one wants to make a decision on their own anymore - too frightened and insecure not like the old days.

Also nothing can be done without a secure contract in place - suppliers to M&S operate without one - always have MS won't sign anything, so once you have them saying yes - you have another long wait to sign the thing - so nothing is there until it's signed.

Running any business these days is no longer fun and enjoyable especially if you employ lot's of people and have to deal with large customers who think that you should be a charity-if you were at least you could get your vat back!!!!

So bear a thought for the poor lot at Stanelco - believe me they are feeling the pressure and it will be even more when they have a contract in place - then we will all be saying How are they going to cope!!!

Good Weekend to all.

bosley - 07 Jul 2006 18:14 - 17635 of 27111

pinnacle, i tend to agree with what you say, about things being tough when dealing with supermarkets. i said the same thing last year. we've seen just how cold asda can be when they dropped ferndale. there is no loyalty.

angusrjy - 07 Jul 2006 19:05 - 17636 of 27111

I totally agree also, there is far too much red tape nowadays and Terms and Conditions stretching over several pages, these things can take years, not months. Patience is a virtue. Think of the things you used to see on Tomorrows world (if you can remember that far back) and then think how long it was before you actually saw the items in the shops? The bigger the order (and cost) the longer customers keep you waiting. When you think about it, ASDA signed this agreement only a little over a year ago. As I said B4 I don't think Stanelco are hiding bad news and if all the interims state are that negotioations and testing are still ongoing then at least it shows the commitment on both SEO and ASDA's side and in the meantime there's still the sale of the ciggy butts and the Wrap 100 to watch out for which might provide some support to the SP.

angusrjy - 07 Jul 2006 20:04 - 17637 of 27111

By the way there's a new report issued today on Stanelco by Penny Shares online.com!

Oilywag - 07 Jul 2006 20:21 - 17638 of 27111

angusrjy

and the gist of the Penny Share report is .....?

The oily one

angusrjy - 07 Jul 2006 20:27 - 17639 of 27111

Just finished reading it, doesn't tell us anything we don't already know I'm afraid. Plus it was written on 7th June. Not sure why they took a month to publish it.

explosive - 07 Jul 2006 21:59 - 17640 of 27111

Old news people that report, at the time broker sentiment was hold to overbought, this week broker sentiment has moved back to buy. I'm inclined to look away from the report and into the markets as no reason why sentiment has changed unless an announcement is about to be made. My guess would be on greenseal but knowing SEO I wouldn't wanna put my money on it!!

greekman - 09 Jul 2006 18:20 - 17641 of 27111

Slightly off SEO but relating to business in general. I fully agree re red tape, government (we will obey the EU diktats) intervention. Why oh why don't they go back to simple issues. I am in a 1 man business, and won't consider expanding as, as soon as I employ a first employee, there are multiple forms etc to complete, so to me it's not worth the hassle. Sorry to go off thread but it really gets to me.

Glad it wasn't 00,000,000,000 !!!!

pinnacle - 10 Jul 2006 18:03 - 17645 of 27111

Greekman, the problem is there is no one out there that represents the small business or has any interest in doing so.

The situation will only get worse - so have an exit strategy out of the UK and Europe ready.

Look what has happened today in Germany - tax going up - Brown won't have missed that, he will do the same soon.

Stanelco is a contributor to the future - a new life in a place where you are encouraged to work and be successful as opposed to being envied and looked upon as being part of the social services.

No doubt this will upset a few people - but it's the truth - 49% of the working population now work for the government - 6 million people!!

Not a healthy state of affairs - 2.8 million receive incapacity benefit - a staggering figure that no doubt has it's share of frauds as well as those deserving.

Thought I would have a moan too as I am getting increasingly fed-up with being looked upon as just a donor of tax with nothing to show for it.

pinnacle/greekman

Quite correct. Noteworthy posts. A true but highly disappointing reflection of our times and country.

Sadly though, all you are doing here is preaching to the converted, although far more eloquently than I can aspire to replicate.

It takes free spirit and self interest to take risk and invest for oneself - and thats us lot !

However, all is not lost. There are places outside the EU where life is much more rewarding - and the social infrastructure of health, education, law and order (within limits!) are light years ahead of UK.

My current exit strategy is shifting away from Le Massif des Maures to a place where the quality of civilised living, social scene, culture and entertainments around the capital area are greater yet the costs far lower than Western Europe capitals. Once you get far away (with petrol @ 32p/litre) into the countryside life is unusually quiet with few surfaced roads, intermittant electricity, TV by satelite only, no Internet (!), sparce cellphone coverage. And (best of all) no unelected EU beauracrats, unasked and without accountability, running our lives.

Yet only 3.5 hours from LHR, GVA or NCE. I am off there again on friday for the 8th time in 15 months. Moscow is seriously underconsidered.

Vasheh zdarovyeh!

markusantonius - 11 Jul 2006 01:01 - 17647 of 27111

Anyway back to Stanelco, chaps..... Any inklings on if/when this next RNS will be?

greekman - 11 Jul 2006 08:22 - 17648 of 27111

Morning, All.

OK back to SEO (my fault for starting it). Still think Friday, as this is the last working day prior to the 16th which is past the date hinted at by my previous E-Mail from the company.

angusrjy - 11 Jul 2006 10:55 - 17649 of 27111

I have emailed SEO to try and get a date, all Sylvia said was they are still working towards Mid July. I have sent another email asking if they are gonna release a date first or just suddenly release them sometime in mid July.
