Did ask if anyone had seen an old work called Socrates but to no avail!
Kept my eyes open for you and waited at the restuarant area at the back from about 1AM.
See you at the next one

Hi Croc
Missed each other in the crowds. I was at the middle cafe for snack at midday. I was minded of your liking for art nouveau glass. There was not as much there is normal, in fact I thought the fair was smaller than some I have seen.

Welcome back. Of course you were missed, it's been so quiet here lately. It is the silly season after all, everyone has hols or breaks of some sort. 17% is quite a respectable rise, well done and it hasn't cost you a penny in brokers fees and stamp duty.

hightone - 03 Aug 2003 21:21 - 1776 of 23498

no just cgt so brown may get some of it 1 way or another.

I don't like paying tax but on the other hand if I'm earning it, then what the hell.

Socrates - 04 Aug 2003 19:25 - 1778 of 23498

Good evening anyone. Socco had a productive day on the market with his portfolio in the blue overall. My selections since my new found tendency towards TA are coming up trumps. Whilst not making any flights to the moon they are making valiant efforts to attain cruising height.

So I'll ring for the in flight hostess to bring on the refreshments. I quite fancy one of those cool cocktails with an umbrella stuck in it.

jeffmack - 04 Aug 2003 19:42 - 1779 of 23498

Evening Socs
Who said you cant teach an old dog new tricks. I'm off to Dusseldorf tomorrow on business for a few days.

Evening all from a very warm and stifling Cheltenham. Roll on the monsoon and winter. A mixed day on the market so since I still managed a blue end of day I'm a happy bunny. The bar's open!

little willie - 05 Aug 2003 18:01 - 1782 of 23498

Watcha Socs,
Give us a pint of Pimms with a drop extra gin & brandy added, much underated guzzler imho.
Couple of pints of this plus a chew on some of the ice cold soaked fruit and I'm set up on a hot day.
Not as hot here as uk as its equivalent of Feb but it was 24 degrees today with nare a cloud in the sky.
Evenings v. chilly tho' so have a fire going [as Pop larkin say's "Purfec".]
Like you my wotsit mostly blue and showed a healthy profit overall;
may it always be so...
agghhh- that's better.....lw

Socrates - 05 Aug 2003 18:29 - 1783 of 23498

Hi lw, good to hear from you and that all is well. Just heard from 'her indoors' that she has missed her coach home from the smoke. I may have go fetch her. Just what I wanted, a 4 hour drive on a steaming hot day. Waiting to hear now if she can get a later coach but not optimisic with the railways being all of a muddle. So I will have to lay off the old fizz until I hear from her.

Socrates - 05 Aug 2003 22:23 - 1784 of 23498

The flock is safely gathered in. Open the fizz!

vasey - 05 Aug 2003 22:34 - 1785 of 23498

You called, Socks!?

Socrates - 05 Aug 2003 22:40 - 1786 of 23498

Vasey
Where have you been lately? Are you hanging around on some other board somewhere?

Is it right to drink VC from a stein?

vasey - 05 Aug 2003 22:55 - 1787 of 23498

I've been lurking here, but I do visit ADVFN occasionally. But they don't have VC or you!

I think I'll have a tall flute for my champagne please!

Socrates - 05 Aug 2003 23:17 - 1788 of 23498

A tall flute it is Vasey. Would you prefer the Venetian Glass or the Waterford Crystal?

I have not seen many posts from you recently, are you interested in many threads or are you lurking like me. I am trying to identify my next target but there always seems to be something that puts me off. I have decided to try to come up with a numerical assessment, a sort of quality value analysis, to overcome my irrational feelings. If the sum of the assessment comes to over a preset target then I invest, if less I do not invest. Sounds simple but getting started is not so easy.
