Oh how I long for the return of the days of the weekly RNS. At least we knew something was nearly happening!

halfamil - 14 Jul 2006 15:51 - 17732 of 27111

Does anyone know how 4 million quid was raised without some convincing evidence?

sellsell - 14 Jul 2006 16:01 - 17733 of 27111

this is so depressing. cant think why they delayed these results. there is not even the usual "we are excited" comments.

Chiva20 - 14 Jul 2006 16:18 - 17734 of 27111

Chaps/Chapesses, I bailed out of here last year at 19p. Still can't believe this stock gets so much attention yet drifts so painfully down down down. I sincerely hope it comes good for you longer term holders but surely your cash is better served elsewhere.

I felt somewhat married to this stock then (when it was making me money!), but some of you guys have real tenacity here. Don't think I've come across such blind loyalty to an old dog! Joking aside I think there is still good potential here but my cash is elsewhere until I see a buck to this awful trend. Shouldn't you do the same?

tweenie - 14 Jul 2006 16:40 - 17735 of 27111

bring back pm1, need some serious ramping.

On the Research Page.
57) Interim Results for the six months ending 30 April 2006

kimoldfield - 14 Jul 2006 18:53 - 17740 of 27111

Just back from an extended stay in London, havent had time to pay much attention to SEO or any others for that matter. Disappointing statement, yes undoubtedly BUT certainly not one to get too upset about! It did surprise me to see them make an amendment:- 'Loss before taxation of 2,337,000 (2005: 1,000,000)' and not 'Loss before taxation of 2,100,000
(2005: 960,000)'; theyd had enough time to get that right!!.
For sure it did begin to look as though the hold up in the issue of the interims was to allow time to give stunning news, but folks seem to be stunned by something else! It was probably just to give the new FD time to settle in, but who knows?
The important things are still there for SEO:-

Starpol 2000 selling successfully into US marketplace and Starpol 3000 awaiting food contact approvals

Selection by Wal Mart into their Sustainable Value Network

Continued progress towards commercialisation of GREENSEAL technology with successful trials completed with 3 major food packers.

No contracts visible yet but they are still part of Wal-Marts plans. Installing GreenSeal machines must surely take a bit of doing, they are BIG machines!, it may take some serious reorganising to fit them in, may be a bit of building work? Just guessing but it could be another reason for a hold up in SEOs plans.

A close partnership has been established with Perseco U.S. to advance the commercialisation of Stanelco's sustainable technologies.

To advance the commercialisation - nothing negative about that.

Development of Starpol 3000 (100% sustainable and biodegradable) is complete. - That looks positive to me.

Adept Polymers

We have invested in equipment to enable us to develop the cigarette filter trials and, with our advisers, we are continuing to evaluate the market opportunities. We are currently in the process of manufacturing samples of filters. - interesting, seems to be a bit of a change of direction here, there must be interested parties, no smoke without fire and all that!

End statements:-

We have developed strong partnerships and key relationships with leading organisations.

We are confident that our intellectual property portfolio will in time bring environmental benefits to both the packaging industry and the consumer and as a result enhance shareholder value

'Our business operates in a fast moving and exciting space. The world-wide packaging industry is fast waking up to the need for new solutions and products that are environmentally friendly whist being cost effective and practical. WE REMAIN AT THE FOREFRONT OF THIS REVOLUTION.'

- that all sounds very positive!

Go on, say youve heard it all before and of course yes, we have, there are a few more additives this time but I cannot see anywhere in SEOs report a statement saying Fooled you all, we are really an absolute pile of crap with no future; all our products are pie in the sky and will be forgotten about in 12 months time!!!!

Riders mount up, weve got a bumpy journey ahead!
kim

soul traders - 14 Jul 2006 19:09 - 17741 of 27111

Kim, if the journey's going to be that bumpy, then surely it's worth waiting until this carthorse has turned into a little Shetland pony? Given the bearish market overall, those of us on the outside are content to wait a while longer before buying in.

I note with interest that at just under 6p, with a market cap of 58 mil, SEO is trading at over 3 times its NAV of 18.3 mil. However, 13.9 mil of those assets is comprised of goodwill, leaving 4.4 mil of net assets, which covers the tangible stuff like plant, property, etc. Another 6 mil of assets is "intangibles" (intellectual property, etc), which could lose their value if things go wrong for the company.

I know that investing in this co is all about the future, but I'd be bothered in the current iffy climate that there's a lot of potential downside in the SP due to the fact that there's not a lot of value behind the valuation. I'm crossing my fingers for all of you who are still in, but would expect a bit more of a drop in the SP before the stock looks attractive as a buy.

All IMHO, etc.

kimoldfield - 14 Jul 2006 19:30 - 17742 of 27111

I agree there is a lot of downside potential ST and if we don't get a damn good progress statement out of SEO soon, some of the Riders are going to fall off their horses! I intend to hang on though because I can see a faint glow over the horizon - might from all those ciggy's.

ptholden - 14 Jul 2006 19:32 - 17743 of 27111

Thought it might bounce around the 6p support level for a while before giving in to the next support, which is around 4p, so slightly surprised to see a 20% drop today. However, the Interims were dreadful, particularly the bit about additional fund raising requirements. SEO are really going to have to be very persuasive and be able to demonstrate that they are on the cusp of securing substantial revenues before Institutions prop them up once more. As has already been stated many times before, it is all jam tomorrow at the moment, but that just won't cut the mustard anymore, they need to deliver and deliver quickly.

As an aside and for future reference, when you next experience a company raising funds at a certain level, do not believe for one moment that level will provide support to the SP. I did argue this point, particualrly with EWR (noticeable by his absence). I am not being clever after the event, but it is a fact worth tucking away.

I hope that there is a recovery in the SP in the not too distant future, especially for those who are getting burnt, but I fear we will see 4p first.

Spot on- a fact exhibited by many shares.

EWRobson - 14 Jul 2006 21:50 - 17745 of 27111

Hi, pth, just back from a brthday jaunt; it may be that my absence is more noteworthy than my presence. Accept you called this one right. In practise, the 8.1p level diod not provide much support at all, although it is easy to quote cases in which it has. The reason in this case may be that the funds mostly came from institutions who may have had their arms twisted and there was no corresponding demand from active traders.

The major problem with the interims was the lack of any fresh news and, I am afraid to say, fresh enthusiasm. Perhaps getting tired of bashing their heads against a brick wall. Significant revenue flow is not imminent based on the point about reviewing how to raise fresh funds. The most positive method could be a significant injection of funds which gives something approaching a controlling interest to a respected party but who retains the commitment of the key players.

View on the sp? Still the same: very cheap taking into account the known potential; expensive in relation to current finances and performance. Not arguing with soul traders.

Good to see a positive attitude on a dissapointing day.

I think this company will find it very hard to fundraise in the future unless deals/contracts have been signed.

AS predicted a while back the fund raising was partly to pay the first (of 2) of the Biotec purchase instalments.By my reckoning this leaves them with @ 2.4 m(3.7 +.3 - 1.6) to see them through to a revenue stream.

Still think that the delay in publishing results was due to SEO awaiting potential contract signings. The fact that none are mentioned is worrying as is the fact that Greenseal was hardly mentioned.

Hope that there are no Porky pies being told as this will not look good for
Elizabeth Filkin the ex Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards who is a Non Exec.

On the plus side the company does have a good portfolio of Enviromentally friendly packaging products. Can't they find someone to sell to in this climate?

4p next and down further still, got out at an average of 15p thank god, anybody still holding should consider cutting losses whilst you still have any mioney left.

ptholden - 14 Jul 2006 22:31 - 17748 of 27111

Hi Eric

Hope you enjoyed your burfday joint, err sorry jaunt :-)
I can't really see that selling a controlling interest is likely at the moment, SEO do have sufficient cash to see them through for a while (probably about six - nine months). Nor do I subsrcibe to the theory that the Interims have been delayed due to the possibility of potential contract signings. I would think that the delay could be attributable to many reasons. Wishful thinking springs to mind!

I find it quite interesting to note that turnover for 6 months is 2.5M producing a loss of 2.3M with a market cap of 50M-60M (ish). Compare that to a real small cap such as DGT with a probable 6 month turnover of 1.5M producing a profit of 400k and a market cap of 5M-6M. I mention DGT not as a ramp (I am sure there are other suitable small caps) but as a comparison that should be bourne is mind when determing the true value of SEO, it should help keep things in persepctive. OF course there is always the potential!!

Today has been THE worst investing day of my life, to date. Broke all my own investment rules en route over the past year plus. A hard lesson in life. Now I have to make some very tough decisions over the weekend - whether to close out with huges losses or hold for the VERY long term? Not happy.

Paperbackwriter - 15 Jul 2006 00:56 - 17750 of 27111

Markusantonius,
Snap. It's been a bad day. Made worse for me as I've just found out my mum's got cancer. Nightmare day X10.

Everyone who is still in, good luck, we're going to need it.
I will get back on my horse and ride the storm. Who's with me?
