MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

swseun, on good news this should take-off rapidly again but this time beware of the opportunities a huge increase will have for shorters etc.
Opinions from supporters are good as are those of people viewing caution, out and out ramping/bashing does nobody any favours.
Paul, you can filter me if you want but when you were nowhere to be seen on this thread during the surge from 80p to 300p I went against the tide and suggested take some profits and buy back at a lower price but the enthusiasm outweighed my view and some got severely cuaght out. I was no basher having invested in 3 batches from 67p to 81p but sold some at 185p and some at 270p and glad I did. The point I'm making is that anyone who has an opposite view to yours IS NOT a basher.
I agree that MMG has huge potential if they can enlist a large pharma to bring these POTENTIAL products through clinical trials and into commercial production however IMO at this stage sp is not worth more than 150p without further news, thats why I sold. My opinion, as valid as yours. I will be back in eventually BUT if the sp goes too far on good news will top-slice again to lock in profits for re-investment at probable lower price on gaps between news.
Good Luck to all with MMG, long-term investors should be rewarded in the future but short-term MMG will be at the mercy of short-term traders.

Andy Hi,

Why would I be filtering you ??

I wasn't in MMG from 80p to 3, I was watching, but I was in SEO at the time, feel free to compare the charts below, there is not much in it, and SEO kept going when MMG dropped, and SEO is going up again real soon. There weren't many chances to swap between the two, and be sure of not missing some rise on the other one, so I stayed in SEO.

The only reason I look at MMG now, is as a way of getting more SEO. I sell 200,000 SEO, a small part of my holding, and buy MMG, and wait for MMG to double, sell them, and buy 400,000 SEO. I have done this with several other stocks, currently I am in YOO at 4.02p and NOP at 15.55p, both looking for 50% to 100% profit for me, whilst SEO consolidates, prior to completion of the last trial, and USA rollout commencing.

MMG have an excellent portfolio, which could be worth 20 a share, as many on advfn claim, but they are already 1.25, whereas Stanelco will be 20 in the same amount of time, but are only 24.75p, so for me it's a no brainer.

I will use MMG to my advantage as I said above, and I don't mind constructive criticism, but there are so many bashers, paid and unpaid, that just want to ruin everything for everyone, and I will stand firm against them, even if it means getting banned, like I did from advfn, for sending every complaint to the FSA as well as their abuse team, becuase they prefer bashers on their free BB's, because it helps get people to pay for the pay BB's.

Cheers,
PM

Like your take on it Paul, essentially trading MMG until there is real profits to be made via a licensing deal. I think there are two distinct choices, buy low, sell high to take profits for re-investment OR buy on lows and hold for long term and nothing wrong with either.
You know I've been in SEO for >12months and also share your enthusiasm and I still hold and recently added again becuase there is actual profit to be made and the sp has not gone too far too soon.I would still be in MMG had the sp not run on too far IMO and I was right at the time but MMG has so much potential. Although I made good money it might have been better for the sp to have not gone above 150p in the first place on the news that was available at the time.
MMG/SEO/IDS were my 3 tips for 2005 and I still stick by all 3.

I also get pissed off by bashers but some folk just post opposite opinion and you have to determine who is just posting caution and who just bashes.
Same goes for rampers, despite my enthusiasm in SEO, someone from this thread asked my advice when it surged to 30p, my advice was if RNS matched the rumour BUY asap, if not it will fall back to 25pish which may be a better buying opportunity. I hope that was sensible advice and better than just saying BUY.
As for filtering, only 2 people filtered by me so far for constant bashing and talking bollocks, no need to filter everyone for just disagreeing with your point of view.

swseun - 23 Jun 2005 11:44 - 1779 of 2444

hi andy,
thanks for earlier advice last night. I am in SEO as well, lot of different opinion out there, i think its a great share anyway.

Nice to see MMG up a bit!!

cheers

Well said.

I have been accused by paul as being a basher.

That I am not, and would hardly be if I take as much interest in this stock as I do.

I do not buy on down movements, I sell as near to what I think is the top as possible, I have done this with MMG.

I hope to do the same again, and am not sure it is performing with any conviction at the moment, hence my comment that it was crap at the moment.

That was not bashing, that was a fact.

I think Paul needs to look at himself before bashing others with his comments, this is not his board, it belongs to Money AM.

Anyone can post here, and like most I hope that they have something intelligent to say.

There is no need to get personal or hurt because others are not as in love with this company as he is.

People who know me, know that I am anything but a basher, ramper or deramper.

There, off me soap box, and enough said on that. (typos correxcted....)

andysmith - 23 Jun 2005 12:15 - 1781 of 2444

SWW, from what I've read by you you on this and other threads nobody should accuse you of anything other than honest opinion be it positive or negative.

seawallwalker - 23 Jun 2005 12:16 - 1782 of 2444

Thank you.

mitzy - 23 Jun 2005 12:16 - 1783 of 2444

Lets put all that behind us and concentrate on the next news whenever that may be..up 4p today and looking great.

mitzy - 23 Jun 2005 12:36 - 1784 of 2444

News tomorrow..? lets hope so.

swseun - 23 Jun 2005 14:15 - 1785 of 2444

up 13.5p.. what happen? :0/

Mr Mole - 23 Jun 2005 14:24 - 1786 of 2444

As mitzy indicated..possibly some news to be released.

tau - 23 Jun 2005 14:44 - 1787 of 2444

nice to see this one up, but still v. low volume and only small trades. Does not seem particularly indicative of news-more like MM manhandling sp-but perhaps they want our shares? Positive news tomorrow would be great.

paulmasterson1 - 23 Jun 2005 15:58 - 1788 of 2444

I am sitting a few desks away from a guy who has 500k of MMG, and he knows David Best very very well, and he's heard of no news coming this week.

We agree it's more likely traders, taking advantage of the quick price movement on small volume. Possibly those who started this weeks rumour, are the one's selling now ....

Cheers,
PM

andysmith - 23 Jun 2005 20:29 - 1789 of 2444

Good info Paul, Can MMG break 140p again or is it back to 125p.

paulmasterson1 - 23 Jun 2005 20:48 - 1790 of 2444

Andy Hi,

Difficult to say, but sell volume slightly greater than buy volume today, and it could go either way tomorrow, so I am making no predictions :)

Off on holiday at 11am tomorrow, won't be back until 4th July :)

I might get a few posts in from my mobile phone though (Sony P900 !)

Good luck :)

Cheers,
PM
