Socrates, I am probably going to regret asking you this, but you said I should live dangerously.......please explain why it's a Chinese curse to live in interesting times?

Bluelady, the Chinese origin is doubtful but oft quoted. The saying is widely thought to be American in origin but based on a Chinese proverb where the context of "interesting" is believed to refer to turbulent or dangerous times. There is a Chinese proverb which loosely translates to "better to be a dog in a peaceful time than be a man in a chaotic period."

If you need any more information I'll ask my old mate Confucious, I'm sure he will have something wise to impart.

Socrates, interesting, interesting and again I say interesting, lol. My husband uses the word interesting when he is being
diplomatic about something of which he is not entirely certain whether he likes it or not and doesn't wish to offend!!!

Tea is however more interesting especially when taken with a danish - anyone else want some?

Why does my mobile always seem to need charging up. Captain Kirks communicator never gets charged but always seems to work.

J Stratford, knowing that cobber is an adult and you are also one does actually surprise me that there are at least two adults who like smarties enough to buy/eat them......however, I was more interested in knowing why you suddenly had a partiality in buying/eating smarties ;0)

Bluey.. I'm not interested in eating smarties per se - only in buying them. And no I haven't got a three year old I don't know about.. at least not as far as I know ;-)

J Stratford, you can get a packet of 5 tubes of smarties for 1/1.50 from any supermarket. Tescos are doing a special promotion 3 for 3 at the moment. Just let me know where you live, I'll deliver them myself? Actually that is the reason why I wrote buying/eating as you never implied you wanted to eat them.

I prefer ferrero rocher myself but each to their own taste in chocolate ;0).
