Triangles/Candlesticks/Golden Crosses Whatever next??? I'm sure all of these are of use but the only thing I invest on is decent potential backed by fundamentals, yes I have made mistakes, usually trading when my portfolio has been boring but now I am reaping the rewards of those mistakes. Facts are, if you try to stick a candlestick with a golden cross on the top through a triangle you get the answer that SEO are about to breakout into something very large. Asda have 60day option to assess whether they are prepared to pay for a headstart on the others with this technology, for once the giant supermarkets don't have all the aces, well done Stanelco, Balchin and your team. Nothings changed, sp moving about at 10p higher than it was last year and waiting for next movement. It is the Alton Towers of the stock exchange, damn good rollercoaster and you get to keep your lunch!! On subject of golden crosses, apparently GLD has one of only seven on UK exchange at moment. Tipped by both IC/Shares as under-valued stock, I bought at 14.75p before either tipped it and one more good day and it will be my 3rd stock to be >100% profit this year. Take a look yourselves but it does seem a very undervalued tech stock which is making profits and growing.Happy days are here, for now and I still see >50p for SEO by the year end.

Ahh, but the great thing about chart patterns is that the more people who believe in them the better they work.

You take this SEO chart which is now showing a triangle almost at completion. There are a lot of people waiting to see which way it will break out and will jump on the perceived bandwagon, re-inforcing the move.

Of course, there could also be others waiting to take advantage of the first lot and will cause the pattern to fail and move sharply in the other direction.

The point is, that because there is something called a triangle pattern forming, that will cause a lot of people to behave in a certain way.

Personally, I think this company has tremendous potential and in the longer term the only way it is going to go is up. That's why I'm following the investors room, rather than the traders room.

triangle-Ascending

The ascending triangle is a bullish formation that usually forms during an uptrend as a continuation pattern. There are instances when ascending triangles form as reversal patterns at the end of a downtrend, but they are typically continuation patterns. Regardless of where they form, ascending triangles are bullish patterns that indicate accumulation.

Massive 3.5 times: buys c.t. sells today..... tells me something is about to happen.....?

EWRobson - 25 Feb 2005 00:26 - 1791 of 27111

Interesting conversation today, oh yesterday now. I enjoyed stockdog's joke as usual but then he had to explain it - you might have guessed it was to do with animals. Don't believe its a triangle anyway. The ASC chart gives two good examples of triangles: the first ascending (as per Seine) and break-out is up; the second descending and the break-out is down. But these are over a reasonable period of time and the two-thirds rule pretty well applied. Not saying the next peak and trough aren't significant but its too early to determine what pattern is forming. As for the dialogue between Fundamentals and Technical Analysis: suffered last year by getting the timing wrong on a number of occasios; read Kahn's excellent book (FT) entitled Technical Analysis on the Christmas hols and now operating on the principle "stockpick on Fundamentals, time the transactions on technical analysis" - results are round about 60/40 positive which is good enough for the portfolio to grow apace.

Strange that there are doubts about the wisdom of the ASDA negotiations. In my view, the discussions are about how the deal is done, not whether: its a must for ASDA because they can't walk away and leave it to Tesco; they opbviously want exclusivity and the negotiations are about price against a period of exclusivity: two variables, price and length of exclusive deal. Simple so why make it more complicated? Monday may give some useful input: if not, not a problem and shouldn't adversely effect price; if it does, positive so that the jump in price will be spread over Monday and the ASDA announcement. Just hold on for the ride, folks!

Missed Drivers commentary this morning - perhaps he overslept ??

stockdog - 25 Feb 2005 08:27 - 1794 of 27111

Morning all.

I am starting to give in to having to read one of these books (as a little light relief from watching the screen all day), since, joking aprt, I think Eric is absoutely right to use fundies to pick and TA to buy/sell - I'm self-admittedly hopeless at this bit still.

Bosley, I am also with you in heart - why bother, it's going to go up soon enough.

Amities/ Bonne matins A both scholarly and errudite set of positive posts Mr Eric, Driver, Bos bHunt, Andy, dclinton , stockdog dynamite,,. by which i mean to congragulate you all on your respective researches.{ and sense of humour } Now while not derisory, trading volumes, were down today ( thursday ) to a mere 10% of that were attained but a couple of weeks ago. A variable which under any set "normal market" circumstances is most concerning and does not exactly bode well for ANY fledling speculative smallcap. And which characteristically leads{ as nervous sellers " sell " and "shorters" move in } to a drifting and subsequent decline in s/p. .For me : Volumes usually speak volumes. !.With a dearth of news, volumes set ,if not, the rules of the game, but they certainly set the pace of the game . Does that English make sense ? . .But in saying that many would argue SEO no longer constitutes the criteria that makes up what is often reffered to as a " highly speculative " stock " To those involved in the industry itself it waits its time in the wings. lt merely awaits the inevitable in that its technology is both proven to be efficient and cost effective and applicable to an industry worth billions: and more to the point taking the fight to the industry itself . Could one wish for more in a stock ? Methinks not. lt has known " blue chip" suiters and undoubtedly as yet unnamed interested parties .Hence it is highly desireable . My only hope ( SHORT TERM hat applied ) is that SEO can survive this Friday which is a traditional "selling" day " and end of month traders books being closed without a plethora of selling. l foresee a little selling today routed in fear alone . l reiterate LONGTERM holders in @ the 4/5p level are sitting pretty..aww .parfaitement decontracte ..lol etre d'un calme olympien ..avoir l'air cool !! ,,oooo l'argent ,,, lf i were you i wouldnt even watch active trading . For in SEO - tu as une perle rare ! l have never made a secret of the fact that i am a percentages man lndeed under those "normal market "circumstances of which i have spoken coupled with the simple fact i am holding a considerable amount of stock which has risen more than 100% in a matter of a couple of weeks,l would have usually considered closing such a considerable position without even a second thought. >mais au contraire< . .But despite such low volume ( a reduction of over 90% in 14 dys } SEO more than held its price which to my mind suggests a settling s/p of approx 13-15p .As every trading day passes at this level its resilience grows as conversely does the confidence of its holder .ls that not but the way of things ? Added to that i happen be fortunate in that i am in a lucky position in knowing most serious traders find SEO highly attractive ; and most merely await the day this circus of a c/c is out of the way. Others simply will not buy at these prices. Most of those to whom i speak who specialize in this field bide thier time and await an entry price of 10p .Whether Mr Market allows thier patience to pay dividends remains quite a different matter altogether . But " Buy " they will !! Beleve me ! Lemming style, as becomes the city fund managers .All frightened of getting left behind . . The only relavence being here is they are liked in the city. And surely that bodes well for any future rights issue which will be neccassity for SEO to implement infrastructure in order to satisfy what could be phenomenal demand . lm aware im jumping the gun here a little; and anyway most of YOU know SEO a lot better than i than i or come to that the vast majority in the city . Perhaps not today, nor tommorow, but this SEO is a success story waiting to happen.l happen to believe allowing ASDA exclusivity would initially be fiscally rewarding but prove longer term to be pure FOLLY ; and SEO s success lies in being available to the army of heavyweight blue chip retailers/ manufaturers out there . The seemingly never ending, sickening, negative, quasi libelous news espoused on other boards by those i happen to know are shorting this stock has been seen for what it was - Utter twaddle. . Finally i find such technical anaylsis in its application to SEO as a tad premature in this instance.Personally i try to restrict my chartist tendancies in smallcaps to merely ascertaining levels of support and resistance. l only employ more of the complicated tools to blue chips and mid caps. But i agree in that it all adds to the consensus of logics that makes us collectively hold .And therin lies our mutual collective success ,,, ,,,, Bonne chance / @+ J Oh by the way Aldwick ( Roly )- ln answer to your inquiry- Yes ! i still indeed hold CSH { toe dipped at 34p in mid jan ) ,,Re JKX and ,,lol What did i tell you ? Results due mid march and what with increased oil and gas prices and D/E and IO inventories hardly encouraging despite a massive increase in the rotary rig count and what with the JKX s/p being held in check by the events of the "Orange revolution " a massive upturn( as enjoyed by other oil midcaps) was absolutely inevitable . LOOK at your Alexander Oil and Gas connections .And who struck a "gusher" in the Black sea ? Yup, Brownie and BP in a j/v with Natianal Oil of Turkey. .And who owns the adjacent site into which BPs holding is believed to decline into a resavoir of origin ? Yup ---JKX ,,,Brings to mind a conversation we had last year when i told you i had bought 100,000 yet more of these @ 60p or so ; and we both agreed i had been extravagent ? . ..lol ...Rememeber Testex ? ( What happened to him ? )On second thoughts-Dont answer. NML and all that ,, He used to call JKX my "airport" as i would have to buy one to in which to fit all my JKX beauties. 175p by results ? Wagers galdly accepted ,,,JKX along with FDI ,HNR,GFM,RPT, KMR,WTE, and CEY and AFE and ORM and MIO ( now Teeling has been removed )are my fave smallcaps. Roly-RE NOP . Lately a little like watching paint dry but ill hold until news of lsle of Whyte drilling is made known .After all thats why i bought initially . lnvestigating COP and FAO at the moment . . .@ + J.

TFC, as always your post is intelligent, well thought out and highly informative. In fact, the only way I could see your posts being any better is through the addition of the occasional paragraph break (unless, of course, you are of the philosophy, which I myself have been know to apply on occasion, that "it was hard to write so it should be hard to read").
