THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

I think before anybody is let into Free Wales, or Independent Scotland they should have to pass through stringent Immigration vetting.

I suppose some would still escape over the border.

From Digital Look

In the Press

Delaying the austerity programme by three years would put 200,000 people back into work and raise economic growth by 239bn pounds over a decade, according to one of the UK’s leading think tanks. The National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) published the analysis as it slashed its growth forecast for this year from 0 per cent to a contraction of 0.5 per cent and warned that the recovery would not begin in earnest until 2014. Had the government delayed austerity this year, the economy would have grown 1.2 per cent, NIESR estimated. The research will pile more pressure on the Government to respond to the double-dip recession with a new growth strategy. Last month, the International Monetary Fund said the Chancellor would have to react in next March’s Budget if the economy has failed to bounce back by then, according to The Telegraph. “

Haystack - 03 Aug 2012 09:50 - 17889 of 81564

And if we reduce the austerity measures then the Uk will pay more to borrow money and the pay back of the defecit will take longer. If our bond rates go high enough then we will need a bail out and things will be even worse. Lucky that the NIESR are not the government and that Ed Balls is not the chancellor.

Fred1new - 03 Aug 2012 10:15 - 17890 of 81564

It depends on the rates.

At the moment the government is digging a deeper hole without planting any cash crops.

Sometimes, it pays to give a time limited subsidy. This is one of those times and has been for the last 4 year.

Nick Clegg 'to announce Lords reform being abandoned'

I think the Clegg, if he has any common sense of decency, he should resign from the government. The coalition and Clegg have little validity left.

Anyway, the previous Lib/Dem voters will reject him at the next election and Danny boy may switch party.

Both have been disasters for the Lib/Dem party and will have the perfume of the tory's on them.

Only hope the Vince doesn’t accept the poison chalice of Lib Leader.

Hope, the UK wins another gold to smother the news.

Ps.

Clegg is proud of what he has achieved while in the coalition.

Interesting comment was that he "the tories didn't honour their promises".

Does that mean he thinks they are "liars".

Interesting comments from Bloomberg Business Week

"Electoral Test

Cameron, who has been seeking to get the government back on track after a series of policy U-turns and months of bleak economic news, faces a test of his declining popularity after a Conservative lawmaker said yesterday she was quitting U.K. politics and moving to join her husband in New York.

The decision by Louise Mensch will trigger a special election in her parliamentary district of Corby and East Northamptonshire in central England, which she narrowly won from the Labour Party in 2010. Nationally, Cameron has the backing of 33 percent of voters compared with 44 percent for Labour leader Ed Miliband, according to an Aug. 4 poll of 1,787 people by YouGov."

Time for a few more u-turns!!

Bank of England expected to cut UK growth forecasts

The Bank Of England is expected to cut growth forecasts close to zero from the 0.8% predicted in May as the double-dip recession intensifies.

The quarterly inflation report is likely to indicate no growth for 2012 compared with 2% predicted a year ago.

I think part timers, Chancer and Dave should get back to work and perform another U-turn.
