cobber - 17 Aug 2007 09:28 - 17887 of 24230

Push push, elbow elbow, trying to get to the urn for a mug of tea. Rather crowded this Friday morning!

Socrates - 17 Aug 2007 09:53 - 17888 of 24230

Ample tea for all but someone has nicked the tea strainer, a few tea leaves won't hurt anyone though. I'll bet it was borrowed by someone who doesn't like leaves in his mint sauce.

Spaceman - 17 Aug 2007 10:14 - 17889 of 24230

I dont like mint sauce.....

Socrates - 17 Aug 2007 10:20 - 17890 of 24230

That's OK Spacie, there is no law that says that you must.

Spaceman - 17 Aug 2007 11:08 - 17891 of 24230

Socs I think there should be maybe we could sponsor one... with a petition to the PM

"The member of Lambykins Dutch Coffee house hereby request that her majesties PM instruct his ministers to prepare urgent primary legislation as follows:
1) All households in the empire should be compelled to to ensure that they have stocks of mint sauce at all times.
2) All citizens of the empire will be required to like mint sauce but....
3) Anyone who does not like mint sauce will be required to register as a conscientious mint sauce objector and will be subjected to control measures if at any time the government declares and state of emergency where the state of emergency is related to mint sauce.
4) Eating of Lamb should become a criminal offence punishable by immersion in a batch of mint sauce with marsh mallows floating in it"

stockbunny - 17 Aug 2007 11:41 - 17892 of 24230

One minor problem with number 4 - no mention of not eating bunny! :>(

little willie - 17 Aug 2007 12:15 - 17893 of 24230

Is anyone out there? What Ho everybody, South Africa calling......

With current turmoil in the news and me having a few minutes, I thought I'd drop a line to find out how you all are.
See there's a few new[?] regulars, a antipodean back from transportation and all the blue movies have gone but now there's a blue Lady [surely can't be, not, Mags!!].

As you may remember, after building my gaff 3 years ago, thanks mainly to PRM I dropped out of the market and have never re-entered.
Can get 10% on a normal money market Investec account here plus my Allan Gray Balanced Fund has delivered over 30% each year so why struggle?

Anyway, thats all by the by; wondered how Jeffers, Hils,Socs, Spacey, Strormie,Bunny et al are and good to see cafe still on its uppers.

Had 3 weeks in a very damp UK back in June just to jog my memory as to why I came here to this wonderful place altho' have to say we've had a winter with rain just like you get in Manchester or Gloucester.
All of our reservoirs are brimming full of the most precious commodity out here but Paarl golf course that I live on resembles a bog just now.

Anyway, once we get into Sept it will start to get back to norm; actually have a wonderful day today; not a cloud in the sky and 24 degrees which is ok for winter.

Keep it up everyone and good luck; hope there's not too rocky a road ahead.
Bye for now, lw

Socrates - 17 Aug 2007 12:43 - 17894 of 24230

Hi LW, long time no see. I thought your investments were doing well but I see you are living on a golf course! Which hole do you use as your address? LOL. I had some relatives emigrated to SA in 1934, allegedly. Never heard of them since.

Seriously, glad you are well and in fine fettle. I have just had two weeks with no water due to the water works having too much, it got flooded. Almost comical until it happens to you.

stockbunny - 17 Aug 2007 12:50 - 17895 of 24230

LW - great to see you about! :>)
