Socs, they will have a huge hill to climb to rescue me ;-)
My house stands at the top of an 18 foot hill, I dont think they will have the experience needed to scale that !

Spacie
They have their own ladder. It was presented to them by a retiring member who was a window cleaner who was scared of heights.

Food is for wimps. Thought you ex RAF types were made of sturner stuff. Much more and wont fit in the cockpit. (must be a joke there)

OK, so I'm a wimp. I like my food and never failed to climb into a cockpit when necessary. Must admit there was not a lot of room in most of them to do what was necessary, anyone who has not hung upside down in a Lightning cockpit hasn't lived.

"anyone who has not hung upside down in a Lightning cockpit hasn't lived" I have never done that but it would be a fantastic thing to do, its still possible in South Africa and when I win the lottery it will be high on my list of must do's.
Socs, have you flown any other fast jets? probably none as fast (or noisy) as the lightning ....

I never said I'd flown in a Lightning. The Lightning was the right way up and it was me that was upside down. It was the only way to get at some of the cockpit wiring.
I've flown in a Vulcan as a bit of self loading freight, impressive but not business class by any stretch of the imagination.

I have hung upside down in a cockpit but it wasnt in a very interesting aircraft and it didnt have enough power ;-)
Morning all from a wet windy and very dull Norfolk... I better cheer myself with a mug of tea and a warm danish.
