And I was just about to post another rant about SEO's poor communications and performance, oh well another few months of anticipation and waiting, at least we know ASDA are still serious, I've just bought back in although not as much this time on this news (I must be a sucker for punishment), fingers crossed.

oblomov - 28 Jul 2006 12:17 - 18019 of 27111

How do you account for your post earlier today, ssanebs? 'spoke to ian balchin yesterday, who confirmed that the exclusivity has ended'

Someone was telling porkies - Balchin or ssanebs?

ssanebs - 28 Jul 2006 12:19 - 18020 of 27111

ring sylvia and he will call you back and ask him if he said it!

hewittalan6 - 28 Jul 2006 12:22 - 18021 of 27111

Now for the good news.
The exclusivity with Asda is extended.
Now for the bad news.
The exclusivity with Asda is extended.
You can read this anyway you want, but I am going to go down the line of exclusivity always having been an unforseen problem. As someone pointed out some time ago, a packaging line must run continously to be cost effective so how does a packager run greenseal on a line for Asda use only.
Solution; Put the line in an Asda exclusive packager (such as one of their own).
Fairly happy with the news on balance, but it is another delay and still no 's.
Alan

i was told by tim freeborn that each store has a seperate line

oblomov - 28 Jul 2006 12:37 - 18023 of 27111

Is this, in effect, an ending of the exclusivity period?

'The exclusivity of the agreement will be waived after the first machine has been installed in an ASDA pack house'

Where's the exclusivity here? Once the first machine is installed, the second machine could be installed for Sainsbury's, Tesco or whoever (subject to trials, of course!).

Tonyrelaxes - 28 Jul 2006 12:50 - 18024 of 27111

Exclusivity - no mention of a new deal on their Website stanelco.co.uk accessed through the link immediatly above the posts above. However it is there on stanelcoplc.com.

Reading this it seems ASDA can stop its competitors taking up Greenseal just by not buying one for itself ! Double whammy looser? Cant sell elsewhere and not selling to ASDA?

Oh dear - my poor brain cannot keep up with all this confusion.

automatic - 28 Jul 2006 12:50 - 18025 of 27111

buys outnumber sells 2-1, pity this doesn't mean anything

sellsell - 28 Jul 2006 12:54 - 18026 of 27111

should this not be an RNS?
so as soon as they implement one machine in an Asda exclusive pack house they can then offer Greenseal to others where Asda does not have exclusivity?

dawall - 28 Jul 2006 12:54 - 18027 of 27111

Clear as pig shit again, what a f-----n shambles. Sounds like they have had this half wit comment to their website just to attempt to shut up some investors.

Why no RNS this time.
18 months now and they still haven't managed to install a machine in a pack house.
When do they think the the 1st machine be up and running.
When will the 200 machines be planned in.
Can the machines run continuously for more than 8 hours
When the 1st machine is installed is that the end of ASDA exclusivity and if so which other companies, if any, do they anticipate lining up.
How fast is Greenseal vs heat sealing.
What other issues are there with G/S (clearly there are some)
What is the latest position with Mondini and other line manufacturers.

This really looks like Greenseal is a long long way off or dead.
If the 1st machine is installed tomorrow then ASDA won't get exclusivity. The fact that they have said this indicates its close to or beyond another 12 months before the 1st machine is converted.

Having ramped SEO to the hilt over the last 18 months Balchin and co. have now got some very serious questions to answer.

oblomov - 28 Jul 2006 12:56 - 18028 of 27111

Thats a good point Tony.

It could be that the first installation would be be part of an order so large that it would take SEO a year or more to complete (300 conversions?) during which time they couldn't accomodate any new business, hence giving ASDA the original years exclusivity whilst also enabling SEO to install in non-ASDA exclusive packhouses!

I wish!

automatic - 28 Jul 2006 12:59 - 18029 of 27111

dawall
Agreed, its time we had an RNS telling the PIs the whole truth and nothing but the truth

Tonyrelaxes - 28 Jul 2006 13:00 - 18030 of 27111

Or considering it further, once an ASDA packhouse has Greenseal the Exclusivity ends so that packhouse can promptly use it on a non exclusivity basis for other customers?

If so, what benefit is Exclusivity other than silencing (?) questioning PIs.

Haystack - 28 Jul 2006 13:06 - 18031 of 27111

The continued exclusivity may just be a red herring. If no one else is interested then exclusivity means nothing.

dawall - 28 Jul 2006 13:14 - 18032 of 27111

Tonyrelaxes

Balchin's apparent comments from earlier were that they weren't talking to any other supermarkets so I am presuming they could not use Greenseal to supply them which potentially restricts any role out

dawall - 28 Jul 2006 13:15 - 18033 of 27111

Anyone have a link into T&G or know when they plan to update on SEO?

bosley - 28 Jul 2006 13:20 - 18034 of 27111

sorry fellas, but no one should be surprised by all this.

oblomov - 28 Jul 2006 13:27 - 18035 of 27111

Tony,

'If so, what benefit is Exclusivity other than silencing (?) questioning PIs.'

I didn't put it very well above, but the point is that the deals will be signed BEFORE the first machine hits the packhouse. SEO will be commiitted to install all the ordered machines - any new orders will wait their turn after the ASDA machines are in place. Therefor, ASDA get their required number first and the benefit of exclusivity is that they get their order in first.

Does anyone know how many ASDA only packhouses there are? Presumably the three that have recently been trialling.

aldwickk - 28 Jul 2006 13:39 - 18036 of 27111

In theory it could be another year before a machine is installed, and then how long before decent cash flow, who knows how much a deal with ASDA is worth,, if ASDA drops Greenseal so will WAL MART then what will the share price be.
