THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Interesting take on the Norwegian view to the sentence - Norway jails "sane" Breivik for maximum 21 years

tyketto - 24 Aug 2012 23:50 - 18036 of 81564

The maximum sentance that can be passed under Norwegian law is 21 years.
This is revieved after ten years.I think he will die in prison.
All this time he will be in solitary confinement.

The teacher began calling out the names of the pupils:

"Mustafa El Ekh Zeri?"

"Here"

"Achmed El Kabul?"

"Here"

"Fatima Al Chadoury? "

"Here"

"Abdul Alu Ohlmi?"

"Here"

"Mohammed Ibn Achrha?"

"Here"

"Mi Cha El Mey Er" Silence in the classroom

"Mi Cha El Mey Er"

Continued silence as everyone looked around the room. She repeated

"Is there any child here called Mi Cha El Mey Er ?"

A boy arose and said

"Sorry teacher. I think that's me

It's pronounced Michael Meyer"

Tributes have been paid to Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the Moon, who has died at the age of 82.He famously uttered the quote moments after setting foot on the lunar surface: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

Kinda brings a lump to your throat! Al-Qaeda terrorists launch human rights bid

Two Al-Qaeda terrorists, one of whom plotted to kill thousands of people in a bomb attack on a British shopping centre, have launched an attempt to have their convictions quashed on human rights grounds.

In case you had any doubts -

Bank Holiday downpours put 2012 on course for wettest summer ever

The national forecasting service said summer 2012 is already in the top 20 wettest years and likely to be in the top ten.

With downpours expected on Bank Holiday Monday and more rain forecast later in the week it is possible it could be the wettest June, July and August in 100 years.

I remember being woken up by my Dad at I think 11pm or later in a foreign country in front of a small black and white tv....for a piece of history....now if the human race goes on to become like something from the Star-Trek series...than that is a monumental moment in time when mankind set down on another (moon-planet)......it is incredible when you think that computers did not exist so the effort by the people who went about putting a man on the moon (for peace reasons, not for war or the military...one must not forget that this was at at a time when the USA was deeply involved with Vietnam and the cold war with Russia....) is enormous......I will never forget that moment of walking into that room with the flickering on the screen from another planet a few minutes before landing !....so Neil Armstrong : rest in peace....
