Well, they might have the 29th in mind, Socs! After all you have to give the punters something if they've dragged up to Sheffield for high noon!. Interesting they raised 2.9m for R&D from that placing. Should see them well funded for the forseeable future and make the shares more liquid!

Sure I can't tempt you to meet in Sheffield?????

jeffmack - 07 Aug 2003 20:51 - 1810 of 23498

Back home from Dusseldorf. Had the young uns out to 3:00 am this morning, suffered getting up for work.

I am very tempted, however I have to work on the day in question. I shall naturally expect a full report. I hope they give you a cup of tea and a cucumber sandwich for the effort you have put in. I understand there's not usually much more than tea and biscuits at AGMs.

vasey - 07 Aug 2003 22:18 - 1814 of 23498

Spoke to Co. Sec and he is expecting somewhere around 30 shareholders. I suppose some will be representing fund managers, registrars and other grown ups but that won't intimidate me! Yep, usually tea and biccies.

If you've got any questions, e-mail via the private service and I'll represent your interests!!

'Mr. Chairman. My friend, Socks, would like me to put the following question to you ........'

Vasey
Thanks, I can rarely think of anything intelligent enough to ask but I'll give it a try. Meantime, bubbly?

jeffmack - 08 Aug 2003 06:52 - 1816 of 23498

Vasey, its flight lieutenant Socs, by the way

vasey - 08 Aug 2003 08:12 - 1817 of 23498

I stand corrected, thanks Jeff. I might just promote him to Wing Co!

jeffmack - 08 Aug 2003 08:51 - 1818 of 23498

Maybe he will get some respect if he wears his old WW2 uniform.

little willie - 08 Aug 2003 09:36 - 1819 of 23498

I heard he flew Fokkers for 'The Bankers' Luftwaffe

I hate to pull rank but over on Sharecrazy I'm a Group Captain. Nice pictures Jeff.

As for WWII, when I joined "the mob" in 1970 I was issued a best uniform which was manufactured in 1944. So I suppose in some ways you are quite close. My button stick was made in 1937!

lw
I never flew "Fokkers", had to mend a few, or at least they sounded a bit like "Fokkers". And before anyone asks, I did work on Spifires and Hurricanes, not during the Battle of Britain but on the battle of britain flight aircraft.

Socs...no, "wizard prang old boy" and did you ever say "Angels at 9 o'clock"?
I'd love to had said that or even, "Wilco Roger One" or
"He came out of the sun" and did you drive a MG LF?
Have you got a "Handlebar moustache"?
Unbelievable times, racing to the village pub, play the rowing game on the floor, meet some floozy for a quick Roger and out and chocks away, up into the clouds, watch out for the briny and where's the hun?
Love to be at one of your re-unions.
Did you ever fly out of Tangmere?....lw

Socrates - 08 Aug 2003 22:54 - 1825 of 23498

lw
I need a translator for most of your post but I am no fly boy. Been to Tangmere but only to visit. Was at Hawkinge last year, it's now a housing estate but there is rather poignant WWII museum there, very personal exhibits of our heroes. It's well worth a visit if you're passing. As for my reunions, I'm usually the only one there, except for Vasey who helps me out with the bubbly.

8 Ball - 08 Aug 2003 23:10 - 1826 of 23498

Good Evening socs.

Hope your well, have you found that new house yet?

Socrates - 09 Aug 2003 00:13 - 1827 of 23498

Hello 8 Ball, nice to see you again. No, not found the house yet. I'm still concentrating on building up my portfolio in order to widen my scope a bit. Made some definite decisions though, place must be quiet and close to the sea. Apart from that, the world is my oyster. Still got a few years to work yet.

How are you these days?

8 Ball - 09 Aug 2003 00:46 - 1828 of 23498

Quite busy at present socs.

Not doing any trading at the moment, just keeping an eye on holdings at present.
Looking to take profits as they come.

Investment club portfolio has improved from -28% to -2% in the last few months
We have taken a few profits, and are holding good profits on both Burtonwood (40%)and Wynnstay group(30%).

I do pop in for a read now and again.
