Health and safety inspections cut in anti-red tape drive

Plans to exempt thousands of businesses from health and safety inspections are to be announced by ministers.

Under new rules to be introduced in April 2013, checks will no longer be routinely carried out on premises considered to be low risk, like shops.

Ministers say the checks can place an unnecessary burden on some businesses but some trade unions say it risks the safety of employees and customers.

The government plans to scrap or change more than 3,000 regulations.

It says its drive to cut bureaucracy will save companies millions of pounds.

They should stimulate growth while balancing expenditures & strengthening fundamentals ... The couple cannot stay in their job if they continue supporting each other closed eyes.

They are winking at each other and sitting in jobs which they are being overpaid for doing.

It is a pity that retribution is out of favour.

What this present bunch did when previously making in their false, fraudulent expenses claims is nothing in comparison with the harm they are presently doing to the UK's long term economy and its society.

NEW DELHI // A man attempting to board a flight with a monkey in his underwear has been arrested at New Delhi's international airport.

The man, who was arrested along with two other travellers, had arrived from Bangkok on Sunday and was about to take a connecting flight to Dubai on Jet Airways, the Press Trust of India reported today.

Archaeologists searching for the grave of Richard III have said "strong circumstantial evidence" points to a skeleton being the lost king.

The English king died at the battle of Bosworth in 1485.

A dig under a council car park in Leicester has found remains with spinal abnormalities and a "cleaved-in skull" that suggest it could be Richard III.
