Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting
in the middle of a goldmine!
This company through
their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full
advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year.
Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies
and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund
placements on behalf of the companies they represent.
|
|
On first sight, the
fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector
makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because
it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think
again!
DGT bring new companies
to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated"
on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company
is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk
of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies
must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring
income).
Because DGT also act
as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging
placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In
addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work,
they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may
need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash
to speed growth.
Current NOMADships:
28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000
per year)
Current on-going Brokerage
agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)
For flotations, depending
on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000
to 100,000+
For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12%
of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M
though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000
!
These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances
and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk
of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back
to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket.
Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge
and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another
healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation
means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for
years, with DGT having to do very little.
New clients gained in 2005 are:
Mediazest

A little comment on Growth business web site
For Liam Murray, a corporate financier at CFA Capital, another attraction is that they offer a fast track route to joining a public market. Says Murray, a conventional flotation will take at least three months and usually around six. But if you reverse into a shell you can actually complete in a month provided, of course, everything falls into place. This is a crucial advantage as it means that a chief executive will have to spend less time with advisers and more time doing what he is paid to do, namely, driving his company forward.

Snakey
I think we have more chance of it snowing for the rest of the year than DGT
paying a dividend. I will be glad to get my money back let alone a dividend.
According to the web site though 2005 has been quite a busy year and a slight tick up this morning.I think the sp is very low at the moment.

This from the last full year results (April 2005)........note the last sentence..
....."Over time we will look to increase the size of the operational team which currently comprises six staff in all (four operational and two in support) but this will only happen on the basis of a profitable and proven business platform".......

where have all the regular posters gone from this board such as EW Robson, PTH and Stockdog as its become very quiet on here?
Maybe they have sold up and moved on as there is no action with this SP at present, dead in the water no buyers around.
Stockdog if you are still here have you worked out a possible profit figure for H2 as i remember you were not far out with H1 profit forecast if we forget those bonus payments which caught everyone by surprise?
Someone on the other BB phoned the company and was told results out April/May so long time yet to wait.

still holding, both shares and tongue. not sure what to make, but am comforted that the SP has not drifted below its current range for a while. I suspect larger buyers (if any) have filled their orders and other investors are not even aware of this share, so MMs have not much to gain by creating active trading by playing games with the SP.
I have lost track entirely of where we are for H2, but I suspect not far off H1 results - give or take the fee for disposal of that bus group's business which I still don't know a) how much it was and b) which half of the year it was credited to - never got round to asking.
I think results season will be the next time any life is evident here. Whether buy on rumour, sell on results or buy on results I can't tell.
I'm sort of just hoping really - yeah, that's the basic strategy - hope.

stockdog,
I think you are spot on with your assessment of the situation and i like the basic strategy bit which i agree is all we can do HOPE.
I am sure a lot of other peeps on both BB's will agree with that strategy also.

I earlier emailed TR and got a reply that they are hoping to get results out by end February although precise date is not determined.
I was put at ease by some of the things he said in his reply to my questions which I will not post as I think if anyone wants to ask him questions he has always replied very quickly to me
Hope this helps

Just in case no-one noticed.......there was a 1 million buy today @.45p (showing as a sell due to one hour disclosure delay) during the period when the prices dropped briefly to .4p=sell and .45p buy.......could it be our new man buying?
