stockbunny - 21 Sep 2007 08:59 - 18388 of 24230

LOL - morning Socs :>)

Bluelady - 21 Sep 2007 09:14 - 18389 of 24230

Good morning everyone,

I know I am going to regret this but I have looked on the internet and come across nothing about strides which would warrent Keaydian to be arrested.

So after trawling through pages of the internet 'What are strides?' and how do you know the word stockbunny? ;0).

Socrates - 21 Sep 2007 09:17 - 18390 of 24230

"Strides" - Slang word for trousers.

stockbunny - 21 Sep 2007 09:24 - 18391 of 24230

It's a common term down here BL :>)

optomistic - 21 Sep 2007 09:27 - 18392 of 24230

Think it comes from Australia Blue. Seem to recollect Crocodile Dundee mentioning his strides.

Bluelady - 21 Sep 2007 09:48 - 18393 of 24230

Oh you are so helpful, thanks a lot for that. Obviously must have heard it used in that sort of context as I've watched Crocodile Dundee, but I tried all sort of google searches and didn't arrive at that meaning. I think they are called slacks for slang.

As a rewards the breakfast is on me and I will do the cooking and washing up ;0).

optomistic - 21 Sep 2007 10:34 - 18394 of 24230

:-))))))))
Then I'm going to paint the ceiling!

stockbunny - 21 Sep 2007 10:34 - 18395 of 24230

No Slacking! ;>)

optomistic - 21 Sep 2007 10:43 - 18396 of 24230

OK I'm starting now. Will be ready for lunch a about 1. Something light so I can carry on after it.....please :-)

Socrates - 21 Sep 2007 11:32 - 18397 of 24230

I'm so please Bluelady has volunteered to wash up and cook because I have a few old friends popping in for lunch on their way to a function. They are good musicians so they may play a few tunes for us, you may have heard of them, Central Band of the RAF.

Bluelady - 21 Sep 2007 11:46 - 18398 of 24230

Optomistic, good on you for completing the ceiling.

Socrates, it was breakfast I was offering but I don't mind doing lunch also for your old friends. Washing up is no problem as I'll just pop it into the dishwasher. My food is so tasty I won't even need to scrape anything in the bin.

Bluelady - 21 Sep 2007 11:50 - 18399 of 24230

Oh as a useless bit of information when I google 'stride trousers'....Jack the Ripper comes up on the fourth entry!!!!

Socrates - 21 Sep 2007 12:47 - 18400 of 24230

Bluelady - You will do better if you Google "slang strides".

Bluelady - 21 Sep 2007 13:29 - 18401 of 24230

Googled it and came up with many different meanings for strides, including trousers.

Jekyll and Hydes is cockney rhyming slang for strides, no wonder English can be so difficult, lol.

KEAYDIAN - 21 Sep 2007 14:27 - 18402 of 24230
