Queen and Country (BABE)

Sponsor Your Queen and Country

BABE Rally 2007 - From BA (Big Apple) to BE (Big Easy), a total drive of 1500 miles in four days on the east coast of the USA, in a banger yank tank that has to cost less than $250.

In a moment of madness, Martini and Gausie have entered a team - "Queen and Country", the entry has been accepted, and so long as we can get all of the prelims in place, at the end of May we'll be setting off from New York with "New Orleans or bust" ringing loudly in our ears.

In case you're wondering, we'll start with Martini as Queen (Gausie will be Cunt-ry) and we'll swap over every now and again.

We'll be raising money for Save The Children, and hopefully, in due course, some of you guys will dig deep.

We're planning on getting a car in late April and flying out a week early to prepare it for the journey - which is at the end of May.

We'll be looking for a car with acres and acres of metal and rust, a decent set of brakes, an engine and gearbox that stands a chance of getting us 1500 miles, and a very loud stereo. We've decided that an open top is mandatory - even if we have to take a cutter to a saloon. A custom paintjob is planned, given sufficient time.

What can I say? C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas assur

I note the CB antenna. So what's your handle?

PS: Historical note: the Union Flag should get a good reception in the Deep South. In far gone days, the Brits assisted the Rebels.

I'll make it 250 if you put 'P Dil Young, England RFU and Sir Clive, my heroes' on the car

Mike your wish is our command. Cough up.

Dead Cat Bounce has arrived safely and is in the hotel. I will leave it to him to tell how we collected him at Newark International Airport. :)

M, G and DCB: Superb!!

chocolat - 23 May 2007 22:49 - 196 of 269

Did you know that if for some obscure reason those letters got disturbed as the co-co-driver leaps into the back seat you could end up with a BUM PIPE YANK?

dcb, been dying to ask - can I call you coco for short?

Dead Cat Bounce - 23 May 2007 22:54 - 197 of 269

the bastards kept me waiting at the airport with the feeble excuse that my plane arrived at the "Wrong terminal". Martini then turned up alone saying Gausie was back at the workshop sorting a problem with the exhaust and we'd have to get a taxi back into town. So he phoned for a taxi. 5 minutes later the "taxi" turned up. My initial words were "F**K ME". Its incredible. The pictures don't do it justice. Gausie cruised up to Newark airport with this huge Unon Jack waving from the flagpole which is an integral part of the car - they have done an absolutely amazing job. Ours is BY FAR the best car so far. Well done Gausie and Martini.

It's 6-00pm here but 11.00pm by my body clock and we are just going out for dinner. Further reports enroute.

Scripophilist - 24 May 2007 09:09 - 202 of 269

If you are up for sponsorship with a magnetic car sign I can get you some more money. All I'd need is a shot of the car with the sign on it.

Bullshare - 24 May 2007 09:13 - 203 of 269

Scrip Are you suggesting that they whore themselves for more money:-)
