Evening all, another hot and sticky one.

Hilary
My Mice are fine thanks, did you notice the 7.5p rise today, 11.1%. I'd be a very happy bunny with that every day. Bubbly is on me I suppose, unless anyone has done better?

jeffmack - 11 Aug 2003 18:44 - 1860 of 23498

Evening Socs.
Though today was supposed to be cooler, didnt bloody feel like it

Socrates - 11 Aug 2003 18:48 - 1861 of 23498

Evening Jeff, cooler tomorrow it is said. How's trading?

jeffmack - 11 Aug 2003 19:08 - 1862 of 23498

Suffering Socs, short the Dow from Friday at about Av 9150, so when it hit 9250 I was down big time. Looks like retracing back towards 9150 so fingers crossed.

Hilary sold me a pup with AHT, she said it would double and it hasnt yet.

Socrates - 11 Aug 2003 20:10 - 1863 of 23498

Jeff
Sorry about AHT. I've looked at t'charts. I'm only using mark one eyeball but I can't see why it should double. Stick it in a box under the bed and forget it for a month or two, that's what I did with WGG, not that I'm implying there is any similarity.

As for the DOW, you should know better than to short it in this current market. It's just as much a gamble as the 3:30 at Kempton Park. I am looking for all round shares now. Value, momentum, good trend and TA looking like a buy before I will go for it. So far, touch wood, it is working. Since I changed my tactics I have bought three shares and they are all in the blue.

I might have a go at SCTN, they are apparently going to get a lot more for their pubs chain than they thought, so the question arises, what are they going to do with it? Maybe return cash to shareholders. Good divi too, normally upwards of 27p. I'll have a look after they go ex-divi on the 13th.

Meanwhile, I just fancy a bucket of champagne trifle!

hilary - 11 Aug 2003 20:44 - 1864 of 23498

Stop bloody whinging and relax, Jeffmack. I also told Xanthippe's old man to get some mice from the pet shop a couple of weeks back and consequently he's a happy old bean today.

:-)

jeffmack - 11 Aug 2003 21:03 - 1865 of 23498

Very relaxed Hil, just pulling your bits. And dont say you aint got any!

Socrates - 11 Aug 2003 21:07 - 1866 of 23498

Nice one Hilary.

Just looking in to check over the valuation of the Tea Rooms

Have been spending a lot of time with REO in the last few months......

Olddog ( aka Trixiebelle )

Socrates - 12 Aug 2003 19:54 - 1872 of 23498

Oh I must say, Trixibelle is much preferable to Olddog.

little willie - 12 Aug 2003 20:08 - 1873 of 23498

Socs, you may be right if, you have the advantage of knowing her/it.
I think you may prefer our forecast over here to the UK's.
Its for a very cold next few days and apparently 'a hard rains a gonna fall'.
As I speak we have a lovely log fire going.
Another month and we'll be moving into Spring; have just ordered 4 tickets
to watch SA v West Indies @ Newlands [Cape Town] on New Years Day.
I wonder what the weather will be like then.......
Pretty good day on the market, fair bit of blue, FIB continues to please,
how was your day?

This_is_me - 12 Aug 2003 20:36 - 1874 of 23498

Too hot for tennis - think Me will join Hilary in the pool! Me will float at the side with a nice cold drink while Hilary does her lengths.

hilary - 13 Aug 2003 07:43 - 1875 of 23498

Agree about the tennis, T_i_m. I've not played for a week and a half now because of the heat and I feel worse for it. I'm hoping to be able to get back into it soon if it cools a bit.

I've increased the distance I swim each day now to 128 lengths (2 miles) to compensate for the lack of tennis, so feel free to dive in and keep me company.

jeffmack - 13 Aug 2003 16:04 - 1876 of 23498

Socs
Glad to see you gave SCTN the kiss of death.

Socrates - 13 Aug 2003 17:46 - 1877 of 23498

Jeff
Oh ye of little faith, I would at least have thought you would know it goes ex-div today. -19.5p on a 30p divi sounds like a good deal to me. I shall watch it for a couple of days and then set myself to buy if all looks set fair. I'm of the opinion that the price will exhibit a Northerly trend whilst investors ponder what SCTN will do with their pubs money.

Hot again today was it not.

Hilary
Mice?
RDW?

Plenty more where they came from. Break out the bubbly.

Once upon a time there were two little bears, now look how many there are!
