Lifted straight from the SEO site;

Easy Peel or Weld Seal can be produced

Thanks Alan. One doubt out of the way!

Tonyrelaxes - 08 Aug 2006 18:31 - 18616 of 27111

Now another....

In an Email (or phone) reply to a poster a week or so ago SEO had said they were not talking to anyone else about GS.

Apart from the usual changing storyline from SEO, any views anyone?

hewittalan6 - 08 Aug 2006 18:32 - 18617 of 27111

The thing is, Tony, we have all become conditioned to looking for the falsehoods and ambiguities in any SEO statement. That is right and proper, and maybe this news is a real shellshock, end is nigh type of news, but i really am struggling to take it negatively.
I can only see what everyone else sees and SEO keep proving my faith to be wrong, but this time, it could be you!!
;-)

Tony (18617),
Just because exclusivity has ended that doesn't mean they are talking to anyone else right now. I still take it to mean that all the packagers are now allowed to install Greenseal on a non exclusive basis, to aid the logistics of it.
Every time someone reminds me of a previous comment, or news-story, it reinforces that view.

Alan, you are right.
My therapist says I should take myself to the pub for a little R&R.
Trouble is others there got interested in SEO after I told them about it in the 23p+ days.
Oh well, the beer will be welcome. LOL

explosive - 08 Aug 2006 18:41 - 18620 of 27111

I agree with that view Alan, also SEO said they aren't talking to anyone with regard to Greenseal doesn't mean that the vast packaging world has overlooked it and not contacted SEO. My guess is that theres plenty of interest wanting to view results for the past 18 months. Theres no teling if a trial run will be announced with another supermarket or between supermarkets.

oblomov - 08 Aug 2006 18:54 - 18621 of 27111

The ''SEO said they aren't talking to anyone else..' story was completely unsubstantiated, and if I remember rightly, other statements made by the poster were quickly proved to be untrue.

I'd be surprised if SEO weren't talking to anyone else which is one of the reasons I suspected the genuiness of the poster. They have to be, and I'm sure they have said they were at some point though cant remember where and certainly cant be bothered to attempt to find it!

But, my point is, the statement is very likely totally untrue - if they aren't talking to anyone else - well that would be incompetent even by SEO's standards.

bosley - 08 Aug 2006 19:14 - 18622 of 27111

youngs salmon is available in most supermarkets. youngs also produce and pack own brand salmon for most supermarkets. surely, non-exclusive is a god send for a firm like youngs IF greenseal is something they want.

Bugz - 08 Aug 2006 19:51 - 18623 of 27111

Exactly. Next few months either will or wont prove how good greenseal is. Its open doors time. If its good, and packaging houses want it, we'll all be alright!!!!

ssanebs - 08 Aug 2006 20:20 - 18624 of 27111

how could they talk to anyone else if they were stll exclusive to asda, would you be happy if you had an exclusive deal and they were talking to others. Ian baichin said to me we are not talking to others, but he did not say that there were none waiting in the wings for when exclusivity ends. Obviously now that it has ended they will be talking to others who have registered an intrest.

oblomov - 08 Aug 2006 20:51 - 18625 of 27111

ssanebs,

The agreement was, and I quote from the RNS,

'a binding contract with ASDA for a 12-month
exclusive agreement for the application of the Group's GREENSEAL tray lidding
and thermoforming RF technology in the UK and Ireland'

The exclusivity refers to the 'application of' - that did not exclude SEO from holding talks relating to possible future contracts outside the exclusivity with ASDA.

bhunt1910 - 08 Aug 2006 21:11 - 18626 of 27111

I am sure that when I spoke to Ian at the AGM -he said that although they had an exclusivity deal with ASDA - it did not prevent them holding talks with AND demonstrating the product so that they would be ready to move once the exclusivity deal came to an end

garyble - 08 Aug 2006 21:15 - 18627 of 27111

Oblo,

Simply a typical SEO statement which leaves much to be guessed at. The detail would be in the contract, duly signed, and that document cannot be seen. So suffice to say, we don't know what limitations/restrictions were in place.

automatic - 08 Aug 2006 22:23 - 18628 of 27111

so what do you think guys and gals, anoyther 15,000 posts on the SEO bb all trying to understand what SEO are really saying, i think i will put my shares in the bottom drawer for 6 months and come back and have another look, we might have a couple of M/Cs in pack houses by then.

aldwickk - 08 Aug 2006 22:29 - 18629 of 27111

Regarding out of line time, food producers stockpile production before closing for a two week shut down for cleaning and maintance.

james 1 - 08 Aug 2006 22:32 - 18630 of 27111

After reading all the posts I have come to the conclusion most of you should apply to Disney World for future employment. You are 101% sure of a job your imagination is beyond belief even they would be amazed how you come up with some of the scripts.

rmhyams - 08 Aug 2006 22:33 - 18631 of 27111

Has anyone worked or know anyone who works at food producers for the big supermarket chains? They may well make sense of what might be going on.

Regards
Gino

I worked at Shippams, who supplied Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda, Co-op and the MOD.

oblomov - 08 Aug 2006 22:39 - 18633 of 27111

gary,

we know that the agreement related to ' the application...' etc, that is quite clear, unambiguous and documented in a RNS. The agreement WAS NOT that SEO would not talk to interested parties about Greenseal - that would have been commercial suicide and wouldn't happen.

It is obvious SEO would have been talking to others as they were hawking a Greenseal presentation around the conferences - again this is documented.
