Mine is a Word document type file (as indicated the Word file symbol).

It is located in

C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

I found it by looking in local drive C: for a file or folder with 'normal' in it

Help please with serious problem. I can't access my
Stockwatch. I get the following Java (TM) Plug-in Fatal Error Message: The Java Run Time Environment cannot be loaded from < \bin\hotspot\jvm.dll> and then Explorer says it has encountered a problem and shuts down.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 25 Jun 2004 08:32 - 1864 of 11003

The Other Kevin,

I have not come accross this before, but it may be wise to re install the Java plugin - please use this link to do this.

http://java.sun.com/webapps/getjava/BrowserRedirect?locale=en&host=www.java.com:80

Let me know what happens

Ian

The graph/L2/trades column on stockwatch has gone blue. Have you changed it or is it me?

The Other Kevin - 25 Jun 2004 08:40 - 1866 of 11003

Ian - Clicked on your link and the Sun page opened but so did the error message and everything closed. Should I uninstall all Java and start again?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 25 Jun 2004 08:45 - 1867 of 11003

The Other Kevin,

I am not sure what is causing this and it may actually have a deeper root cause. however, if you are confident that nothing will be disturbed by uninstalling Java VM and re installing it this may be an option - sorry to be so vague, but it is hard for me to diagnose remotely.

If I uninstall is the link you have given the one for reinstalling? I seem to have two Java programmes installed - JavaSoft and Java j2rel.4.2_04. Should I try by uninstalling the latter first?

EDIT: P.S I'm confident about nuffink!

Kayak - 25 Jun 2004 09:04 - 1869 of 11003

Martini, in Explorer go Tools/Folder Options/View tab and tick show hidden files and folders.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 25 Jun 2004 09:08 - 1870 of 11003

Kevin,

I am not sure what these 2 are and would not like to advise you on this without first finding out.

Does anybody else here know what effects this may have if uninstalled?

Ian

Spaceman - 25 Jun 2004 09:23 - 1871 of 11003

TOK, I would just remove it and then reinstall it. But try shutting down any java sessions you have running and then using the link IanT gave above, it might be easiest to do this by restarting your machine and going straight to that link so if you Right click on the link and save it as a favourite, then restart and then go straight to that link.

No guarantees by the way ;-)

The Other Kevin - 25 Jun 2004 09:46 - 1872 of 11003

Ian and Spaceman - I've done a Google search and found the error message on the Java forum. The recommendation was to attack the Java Plug-in on the Control Panel. I've had a look there and clicked on an Apply and a Reset and we seem to be up and running again. Many thanks to you both for your help. I also did a Regsitry Mechanic check which turned up with 14 faults but none of them seemed to be Java related. It all probably arose when I was freeing up some disc space yesterday and uninstalled some unwanted programmes.

Edited: Only 14 faults, thank goodness. 114 was my typo.

Kevin,

Glad to se it is sorted.

Seymour

MAx 20 days to replace.

Not sure you mean it was bought only a short time ago. But if the goods were sold to you and is not functional you can return to vendor and ask for replacement or repair for upto at least 6mths and I think even longer. It has to be of "merchandisable" quality.

Cheers guys sorted now

Mr Euro - 25 Jun 2004 22:29 - 1876 of 11003

SC, thanks for your comments.

Can somebody help me (again!) please. How can I take a screen shot?

Thanks.

Spaceman - 25 Jun 2004 22:44 - 1877 of 11003

Mr Euro. press print screen and then use edit paste to put it into a document or email.

PrintScreen does the whole screen
Shift/Printscreen does the current window

Mr Euro - 26 Jun 2004 07:01 - 1878 of 11003
