'Morning all

Just received an e-mail from Sylvia Leavey this morning in reply to one which I sent last night asking for a reply to the one I sent on Thursday last week, the contents of which I posted on three boards.

Sylvia said that Investor Relations had not received the e-mail. I replied that it was sent to her personally by mistake and that unless she had not opened her e-mail since Thursday last week, she should have seen it.

Does anyone get the impression of not only smoke and mirrors, but also incompetence and .... well untruths being dished out. Would you believe that someone in Sylvia's position would not open their e-mail for three whole days?

Makes you wonder doesn't it?

I have this morning again sent the message which I originally sent last week to Sylvia, to Investor Relations with a copy to Sylvia and asked her to confirm her receipt.

Hopefully I shall get confirmation of receipt and then a reply to the questions I asked in my message last week.

I have just picked this up from another board - I cannot substantiate it - and I would have expected an RNS - so doubt its valididty.

Has anyone else heard anything ??

"Packaging News magazine ran a front page article saying that Terry Robins was no longer COO and lots of other people had been sacked. And a new imterim sales director and project director had been appointed."

Oilywag - 09 Aug 2006 10:08 - 18643 of 27111

Bhunt1910

I think I shall send a message to Sylvia asking for confirmation of that and ask why, if it is true, it has not been announced in an RNS.

I have just taken a look at Packaging News on the web site and cannnot see any item about Terry Robins. It might well be that the latest issue is not released onto the web yet.

Bugz - 09 Aug 2006 10:22 - 18645 of 27111

I heard a rumour last week that 13 people have been sacked. I think its got to do with a lack of operating cash.

Bugz - 09 Aug 2006 10:26 - 18646 of 27111

Baza,

They wouldn't issue a RNS unless they had to, which I dont think they do in this situation. They're not voluntarily publicise the fact if it is true!

Oilywag - 09 Aug 2006 10:30 - 18647 of 27111

Where did you hear this rumour and is the source considered credible and reliable?

If that is true, I would love to get to speak to a couple of those people. They are sure to know a lot about what is going on and would probably be happy to dish the dirt.

I am sorry that I am sounding so negative about the company, but I am sure that there are some amongst us who feel as though we are seeing the makings of a "Titanic" here. If there is a possibility of this, then we need to know so that we can individually take our decisions as to what to do with our investment.

I heard it from a source I believe is very credible and reliable. There is nothing price sensitive about this info. But as you say, it indicates to me that cash flow is THE major issue.

We need some sort of income, if not SEO wont be around at xmas. I wasnt aware that Terry Ribbins was one of them however. I was hoping that the had got rid of the bottom layers, not the top!!!

oblomov - 09 Aug 2006 10:46 - 18649 of 27111

I'd happily see Terry Ribbins go - hope its him and not Terry Robins.

Please PM me on FYB with your phone number again. Unfortunately I emptied my whole inbox by mistake.

Thanks

Stanelco only employ about 40 people, so 13 is a large number to lose!

The lower levels are not the problem as their cots is relatively low. Its the R&D, Stock, travel and entertaining etc plus a couple of big boys which has hit the Admin expenses.

Of course, if SEO have found that they can survive on fewer people all the better.

Bugz - 09 Aug 2006 10:53 - 18652 of 27111

LOL, noted Oblo! I think i'll leave it unedited so your post doesnt seem odd.

bhunt1910 - 09 Aug 2006 10:53 - 18653 of 27111

SEO have confirmed that Terry has left and that they have made some redundancies as part of a cost cutting exercise - which is good news and could be seen as positive I guess.

Terry remains as a consultant to SEO - which is how he started out I think.

Martin is still in talks with WM and Perseco - and they apparantly are proceeding well - but as with all these things - they take time

Bugz - 09 Aug 2006 10:54 - 18654 of 27111

Terry Robins was ex-Asda wasnt he?

Bugz - 09 Aug 2006 10:55 - 18655 of 27111

Baza,

I promise you its not good news. Why sack over 20% (in fact over 25%!!) of your workforce unless you're pinned right up against a wall?

Oilywag - 09 Aug 2006 10:56 - 18656 of 27111

Just received this from Sylvia

"Dear Mr

Thank you for your emails.

Firstly, I am concerned that you believe I have not responded to your recent email. I have checked my inbox and that of the Investor Relations Inbox and confirm the last email from you was on 28.06.06 regarding Interims.

However, regarding your emails of today, I am meeting with Martin Wagner later today and will discuss your questions with him then.

Please be assured I will reply as soon as possible.

Best regards"

bugz, you're right. after yesterday's news i thought things may have turned a corner but when you consider that the small size of the workforce was offered as one excuse for the delay in installing greenseal, then this is terrible news. also, terry robbins is one of the top guys in this field. why sack him?? i think the stench just got worse.

Oilywag - 09 Aug 2006 11:03 - 18658 of 27111

Re Terry Robins

How can a COO be a consultant/

A Chief Operating Officer in my book ought to be there and hands on to many things - operations - that are going on in the company. At least that was the case in the last company that I would in and their COO knew, in at least broad brush strokes, about most things.

Consultants at best only work a few hours a week for a company and may have more important things to attend to in their other work.

Just an observation

Are we forgetting that none of this has been confirmed yet officially?
