Catch 22 as usual! ;-)

hodgins - 12 Aug 2004 20:07 - 1867 of 11056

Sitting short /yen and downward movement over the last couple of days.
It's brushing up against support on the hourly chart and a new downward channel would seem to be forming.
Also it always falls from August until later in the year.
Hoping to keep this one for at least a while? Oil price a possible wild card though.

Dil - 12 Aug 2004 22:17 - 1868 of 11056

Read something last week from RBOS forex guys about GBP always falling against the YEN during August , interesting.

hodgins - 13 Aug 2004 09:32 - 1869 of 11056

It could be volatile though!

Dil - 13 Aug 2004 09:44 - 1870 of 11056

Lol , Japanese growth figures released last night were lower than expected and chucked a temporary? spanner in the works.

Maggot - 13 Aug 2004 17:28 - 1871 of 11056

Still can't run profits - didn't catch that fantastic spike today on Cable but closed a long a few minutes before, and closed three more longs after it (total about 50 points). Could have left any of them to run but I just can't - the only times I have done in the past I've lost a load!

Bet some of you have made a fortune today.

Anyone got any views? are all the Fx traders on holiday?

edit - when did CMC reduce their cable spread to 3 points? pleasant surprise!!

hilary - 02 Sep 2004 14:46 - 1882 of 11056

Got back from the South of France in the early hours, Sue. Can't get motivated atm. It'll still be here next week, so I'll maybe turn the screens back on then.

hodgins - 03 Sep 2004 09:07 - 1883 of 11056

Tiny pound short in anticipation of strong US employment data, can always add more if things head that way after lunch (or close not too painfully).

hilary - 03 Sep 2004 10:01 - 1884 of 11056

I'm sorry, hodgins, but I'm going to offer a contrarian view.

Cable seems to have been supported at 1.7850 over recent days. It has failed to push significantly lower and is now looking well oversold on my oscillators. I suspect that bear stops are currently located at around 1.7950 and, if we can push through that level, we could see a squeeze and a subsequent up-leg over the next few days. I wouldn't be surprised if weak employment data doesn't turn out to be the catalyst this lunchtime.
