Read the last paragraph on the RNS today.
It says what many of us have been saying was a huge problem for months.
Now we know why exclusivity is ended and its good news!!! (on face value).

RNS Full text of the important bits.

RNS Number:5121H Stanelco PLC 10 August 2006

10th August 2006

Stanelco plc
Re agreement with ASDA

Stanelco plc ("Stanelco") is pleased to announce an update regarding its GreenSeal technology following its initial 12 month exclusivity period with ASDA. Stanelco will continue to work with ASDA as they support our GreenSeal technology as a way to achieve part of ASDA'S greater business objective of meeting their obligations around sustainability.

The original terms of the agreement between ASDA and Stanelco, as announced on 24 March 2005, for Stanelco's GREENSEAL technology have been extended for another 12 months, other than the exclusivity arrangement with ASDA which has been waived. This will allow Stanelco to offer the GREENSEAL technology to non-exclusive ASDA suppliers, as well as ASDA.

Martin Wagner, CEO of Stanelco said:

"This is an important development with ASDA and shows the strength of our relationship. Whilst all the major components of our agreement remain ASDA have agreed to relax the exclusivity of usage for non ASDA suppliers. This means that suppliers to ASDA who also pack for other retailers can now be approached.

A significant hurdle for us has been identifying packing lines that were exclusively for ASDA usage. By removing this obstacle we can now effectively offer our GreenSeal technology to any user. This negotiation with ASDA has been over a protracted period of time and we are grateful for their unwavering support."

Might also explain why Asda have not yet replied to me, Mr Wagner cannot call ssanebs till later and why there has been no director buying, cos they can't while these negotiations have been ongoing.

'The original terms of the agreement between ASDA and Stanelco, as announced on 24 March 2005, for Stanelco's GREENSEAL technology have been extended for another 12 months, other than the exclusivity arrangement with ASDA which has been waived.'

If you take out the exclusivity, I'm not really sure whats left! Nothing concrete.

24 March 2005

Stanelco PLC ('Stanelco' or the 'Group')

ASDA adopt Stanelco's GREENSEAL technology

Stanelco PLC, the RF (radio frequency) applications group, is pleased to
announce that it has signed a binding contract with ASDA for a 12-month
exclusive agreement for the application of the Group's GREENSEAL tray lidding
and thermoforming RF technology in the UK and Ireland. ASDA anticipate that
several hundred machines will be adapted to utilise the technology due to the
significant benefits it delivers.

The agreement follows successful trials at a number of different ASDA suppliers
and will mean that the suppliers involved in the programme will, where
practical, convert from traditional heat-sealing to Stanelco's revolutionary RF
technology.

The main benefits of Stanelco's GREENSEAL technology are:

- An up to 20% lower cost of packaging material;
- A higher integrity seal substantially reducing the possibility of packs
leaking;
- A removal of laminated plastics in favour of mono plastics, which can be
easily recycled providing significant environmental benefits and
- A saving of up to 70% on power usage in the traylidding/thermoforming
machines.

The costs associated with conversion will be greatly outweighed by the financial
and other benefits indicated. It is expected that, according to plan, this
agreement will generate a revenue stream for Stanelco significantly in excess of
5m in the first year alone. Even before the first machine has been converted
ASDA and Stanelco are working together to look at other areas of opportunity for
the technology.

The 12-month agreement will commence from the first Monday following two weeks
of further successful trials with three ASDA suppliers. This is expected to be
in April. These commercial trials are in addition to the completed trial
announced on 1 March 2005. The underlying access agreement to adopt the
technology will be between Stanelco and each of ASDA's packaged food suppliers
with Stanelco taking on responsibility for installation and maintenance of the
tray-lidding technology.

the redundancies/sackings make even less sense now.

"The underlying access agreement to adopt the

tray-lidding technology."

Sorry to keep on about this but the sackings make utter sense if you have no money!

hewittalan6 - 10 Aug 2006 13:27 - 18721 of 27111

I refer the right honourable members to my post 18610, which forecast (in yorkshire-speak) almost exactly what martin has siad in the RNS.
ahem.

Oi you Alan

Yorkshire people lost the right to be smung when Boycott hung up his pads!

And I refer you to my post 18612!

Bugz - 10 Aug 2006 13:33 - 18724 of 27111

I was expecting more than what was released.

He's said bugger all! I presumed back in 2005 that in 12 months GS would be then open for other potiential clients. Its later than I had hoped. As Bos says, I'm not sure what is left with ASDA. The 'agreement' Wagner refers to says nothing other than the 12 month exclusive period.

Still awaiting actual commitment. The 'Back To 10p party' still is a while away.

Oilywag - 10 Aug 2006 13:39 - 18725 of 27111

Any commercial agreement has many parts to it all legally binding. The only important facet of their original agreement that, according to the RNS, has changed is the exclusivity clause. The rest remains in situ., i.e. all obligations on either party remain.

However, the one thing I would have liked to have seen in this release, was a statement to the effect that they were talking and testing with other supermarket's suppliers as well. Perhaps, they think, that we will all take that as read.

oblomov - 10 Aug 2006 13:41 - 18726 of 27111

But what else was there, Oily? Do we now take it the following is finally about to happen? If so, why a 12 month extension?

'the application of the Group's GREENSEAL tray lidding
and thermoforming RF technology in the UK and Ireland. ASDA anticipate that
several hundred machines will be adapted to utilise the technology due to the
significant benefits it delivers.'

I cant believe that we, the OWNERS, still havent been told how many of these machines are actually in place, or have any idea how many are being installed in the next few months. We're so far in the dark its beyond funny!!

tweenie - 10 Aug 2006 14:05 - 18729 of 27111

'mithering' aside,
I think that this was exactly what was forecast, nothing more, nothing less.
I expect deals in the next few weeks to be announced.
I will be very dissapointed if this is'nt the case.
At present still happy to hold.
Stanelco now has all the supermarkets etc to sell to with no real restrictions other that their legendary inability to sell.
we live in hope of 'more jam tommorrow'
flags out for the .10p party.
lol

greekman - 10 Aug 2006 14:09 - 18730 of 27111

Still read it as good news. To me it looks like Seo have pushed Asda into this, although a small company pushing such a big company appears unlikely we do not know the ins and outs of this change. Could be Asda realize that it is the only way for both companies to go. If they hope to work together for the next 12 months and beyond, it may make sense. Still muddy waters, but it is clearing just a bit.

jimward9 - 10 Aug 2006 14:10 - 18731 of 27111

My take on this is:
Asda have had 15 months and are at a point where greenseal is now tested and works.
Other supermarkets are banging on the door and want to do business or at least get samples.
If Asda want to stay infront, get your cheque book out, first with the cash.
About time the CEO made a stand, well done that man.

markusantonius - 10 Aug 2006 14:12 - 18732 of 27111

Guys, apologies for posting again (now that I am out of Stanelco). But just learned today from a small food company who have tested Stanelco's technology earlier this year. They were not impressed: "not what it's all cracked up to be...!" was the response.

Take this whichever way you like, but my friend who told me has been holding SEO since 16p himself and only held on because of the hype and Asda/Walmart inferences. Wish he'd have told me this months ago!

I know a few posters/ex-holders were planning a re-entry but maybe I would take a step back now and just wait and see what happens IF they secure significant deals with ANY major plc? OK you may miss the bottom end but at least you will know exactly what's happening.

(IMO...)

they must have had a early version of it, that did not work to well.
that's why it was modified, tell them to try it now, so they do not miss out.
