How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Backed under 2.5 goals prior to the match so quite happy i am being bored senseless by the game - tempted to back lisbon as boro have got to take more chances and are likely to leave themselves open

Lol - what a chance boro have just wasted

I've been trading over / unders a bit more of late. I managed to model it recently so have a bit more confidence in where the market is heading. Also a good hedge.
Stunning miss from Middlesborough!

The game just gets worse - lisbon cant be bothered to attack and boro cant keep the ball long enough to - under 2.5 looks the safest bet in the world

You'd have thought someone would have explained to boro that being 3-2 down from the first leg that they need to score twice to have any chance, and to do that they need to commit players forward - i dare say lisbon have had to work harder in training than tonight

Cheers. I wonder if Scrip has any data on two leg results: If there are a lot of goals in the first leg does that mean goals are more likely in the second?
That was my guess before tonight's match. :-o

I would have thought otherwise. The whole psychology of the game is different in the 2nd leg. I would have been happy to back under 2.5 goals. Just didn't consider it.

Options expiry, the market often goes mental as traders try and force the market to close at a price favoured to their positions. For financial bets you get wild fluctuations in values. If you are on the right side of these you can make a lot of money.

whyallsteve,
It's option expiry day for varying levels of contracts (Month, Quarter etc) look at the thread below for some good background. But basically form about 10:10 to 10:30ish expect to see the FTSE make some sharp moves that you would not normally wittness.
