Israeli Gaza conflict?????? (GAZA)

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2009 19:21

Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?

If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?

Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?

What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

Fred1new - 10 May 2010 13:09 - 1877 of 6906

Hilairy.

Who resurrected you?

Why don't you put a bit of bacon in the recipe to go with the lager?

================

I wonder, what the Palestinians and the Americans discussing.

I wonder, if America is beginning to realise their stance in the Middle East is not helping them in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

(Did I hear Israel is threatening Pakistan, if they don't get their own way?)

It is about time both sides came of age, but reading this thread it is easy to see the difficulties.

Hils - sounds lovely, but I meant this "Rozan Kobar":

farike.jpgarab1.jpg

The 'Arabian nights' cartoon used to be shown during the Banana Splits. "Rozan Kobar" must be arabic for 'Abracadabra'.

hilary - 10 May 2010 13:47 - 1879 of 6906

Oh sorry, G. I could've sworn you said Rogan Josh.

I should've gone to المواصفات المدخرين. That's Arabic for SpecSavers doncha know.

Fred1new - 10 May 2010 14:39 - 1881 of 6906

Hairy,

How often do you do the splits.

==============

Any news about the Palestinian/American negotiations going on, at the moment.

Told Israel is having the riot act read to them.

I suppose it would be interesting table talk.

No.

In The Land of the B - 10 May 2010 17:47 - 1886 of 6906

How terrible of the Israelis to seal off the West Bank and Gaza so suicide bombers can't get in to slaughter them.
It's worked though. The number of successful suicide murderers has dropped hugely.

Moroccan lamb tagine

1 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp ground ginger
1 tbsp turmeric
2 tbsp ground cinnamon
1 x shoulder of lamb, trimmed and cut into 5cm/2in chunks (about
1.1kg/2lb meat in total)
2 large onions, grated
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp argan oil (see note)
3 cloves garlic, crushed
570ml/1 pinttomato juice
2 x 400g tinned chopped tomatoes
115g/4oz dried apricots, cut in half
55g/2oz dates, cut in half
55g/2oz sultanas or raisins
85g/3oz flaked almonds
1 tsp saffron stamens, soaked in cold water
600ml/1 pint lamb stock
1 tbsp clear honey
2 tbsp coriander, roughly chopped
2 tbsp flat leaf parsley, roughly chopped

Method
1. Preheat the oven to 150C/300F/Gas2.
2. Place the cayenne, black pepper, paprika, ginger, turmeric and cinnamon into a small bowl and mix to combine. Place the lamb in a large bowl and toss together with half of the spice mix. Cover and leave overnight in the fridge.
3. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp of argan oil in a large casserole dish. Add the grated onion and the remaining spice mix and cook over a gentle heat for 10 minutes so that the onions are soft but not coloured. Add the crushed garlic for the final 3 minutes.
4. In a separate frying pan, heat the remaining oil and brown the cubes of lamb on all sides then add the browned meat to the casserole dish. De-glaze the frying pan with pint of tomato juice and add these juices to the pan.
5. Add the remaining tomato juice, chopped tomatoes, apricots, dates, raisins or sultanas, flaked almonds, saffron, lamb stock and honey to the casserole dish. Bring to the boil, cover with a fitted lid, place in the oven and cook for 2-2 hours or until the meat is meltingly tender.
6. Place the lamb in a tagine or large serving dish and sprinkle over the chopped herbs. Serve.

Note: Argan oil is a Moroccan oil from the argan tree, you should be able to find it in specialist food shops

For the uninvolved who bother with this thread you can understand by what is implied by the information below:

Also the pathetic attempts to suppress discussion and information about the subject.

Also, you can take a risk with the recipes. I wouldn't!

For starters, the discrimination and repression that is the essence of apartheid will be increasingly visible to people all around the world. Israel and its supporters have been able to do a good job of keeping the mainstream media in the United States from telling the truth about what Israel is doing to the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories. But the Internet is a game changer. It not only makes it easy for the opponents of apartheid to get the real story out to the world, but it also allows Americans to learn the story that the New York Times and the Washington Post have been hiding from them. Over time, this situation may even force these two media institutions to cover the story more accurately themselves.

The growing visibility of this issue is not just a function of the Internet. It is also due to the fact that the plight of the Palestinians matters greatly to people all across the Arab and Islamic world, and they constantly raise the issue with Westerners. It also matters very much to the influential human rights community, which is naturally going to be critical of Israels harsh treatment of the Palestinians. It is not surprising that hardline Israelis and their American supporters are now waging a vicious smear campaign against those human rights organizations that criticize Israel.

You can see the similarities.

It is not surprising that hardline Israelis and their American supporters are now waging a vicious smear campaign against those human rights organizations that criticize Israel.

Fascinating, makes good print material.

MM - One for you

Fred Steak
Fred Steak is a marinated beef steak sold by Schaub's Meat, Fish and Poultry Market in the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, California, United States. Its primary characteristic is its very black color - it looks burnt, even when raw. The dark covering forms a crust during a cooking.

The marinade is a secret, though some imitations have been listed on the Internet, here's one:

Ingredients
1-1/2 cup brewed coffee
1 cup red wine
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup molasses
1/3 cup Balsamic vinegar
1/3 cup Tamari sauce
1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp chili powder
6 cloves garlic

It was originally called "Marinated Sirloin" in the 1950s or 1960s by Fred Schaub at his Los Gatos, CA meat market. That market closed in 1979, though the 2006 Schaub's brochure claims Fred's son David would be stopped on the street by ex-customers and asked where they could purchase "Fred's Steaks." When David Schaub opened the current market in the Stanford Shopping Center in 1988, he again offered the product. Fred Schaub died in 1996.

Fred SteakFred is a staple of SF Bay Area BBQs, especially summer weekends.

Hays,

One can see why your natural home is the "Nasty Party".

With your help the Cons. should be back in the wilderness in no time.

Fascinating, Osborne offering bigger baits on electoral reform.

Funny how debased the cons have become and will do anything for power.

Haystack - 10 May 2010 19:40 - 1893 of 6906

You mean like Gordon rushing in at the start of the negociations and offering a referendum on the voting sytem, which he has opposed previously.

Fred1new - 10 May 2010 19:54 - 1894 of 6906

Just a change of opinion.

Cameron should step down as he is a complete failure.

Sharpen the knives.

MightyMicro - 10 May 2010 20:07 - 1895 of 6906

Sorry, Fred, the knives are all still stuck in Gordon Brown's back at the moment. Et tu, Alistair!

No wonder Darling's been doing so well - his moment has come. Revenge must be sweet.

MightyMicro - 10 May 2010 20:17 - 1896 of 6906

Haystack: Thanks for that, I know the Stanford Shopping Center well. There's a nice branch of Tiffany's there as well as the other Palo Alto Apple store. I'll check out Schaub's when I'm out next time. And yes, I'm darn sure I've eaten it at a friend's barbeque.
