Hello again chaps. Been a while. I see my post no. 93 has come to pass on RSA.
This general malaise pre-election jitters may well be an excellent buying opportunity for RSA at 71-73p. If Labour returned it will rise with market. Quick kill. Anyhow, nice to see thread still active. Must go now. Be lucky and good hunting.
Nam.

Welcome back namreh3, in my opinion it would be better if Conservatives get elected for a market rise.

Results on Thursday (1st qtr) should give a good indication as to how things are developing. Differing views around as usual, some take the stance that good progress has been made whilst others consider that profit will be down a little owing to storm claims in Scandinavia (but that is what insurance is about) we must look at the underlying trend.
Hopefully, perhaps we may be given some indication as to how near we are to a satisfactory solution to the American asbestos problem.

Very good 1st qtr results. Looks like patience may be rewarded.
Good luck holders.

Faith restored! Where to next?

optomistic - 13 May 2005 09:16 - 196 of 761

With profits TRIPLED in the 1st qtr and a 24% increase in written premiums I think RSA must now look more interesting to the INVESTOR area, the divi now looks certain to be maintained and possibly increased.
The share price should begin to make some headway over the weeks to the half way results, although I think it likely that profit taking by the traders that have been going in lately for the 'quick buck' could hold it back a little.

Like most of the others today....struggling!

joehargan1 - 13 May 2005 21:12 - 199 of 761

Tipped strongly in Tempus today. I'm hopeful the broker estimates will start to move bullishly over coming weeks and we might see a long overdue rally.

Reasons to be cheerful are legion"- RSA will sustain its current modestly progressive dividend policy & the shares offer & yield of 6%. BUY. The Times.

Thanks for the info Goal, the yeild must offer good support. Given fair market conditions we could see the long overdue re rating over the next few weeks.
I took the opportunity to top up before the results so watching with interest.

rns today reveals that Mr Kenneth Haste has bought 258,899 shares at 77.25p.
I like that!!

goal - 06 Jun 2005 20:42 - 205 of 761

Hello opto, since march RSA been in a down trend, if it continues in this trend I think it will go no further than 74p a share & turn around. Whats your view? regards goal.

optomistic - 06 Jun 2005 20:55 - 206 of 761

Hi goal, yes RSA has struggled along for a while now. I do feel that it (oh dear dare I say it!) has found its support around this level.
The fact that Mr Haste has bought this stock, for real money, not by take up of nil/pt paid options must give some confidence to the holders and new buyers of RSA.
Barring any problems arising on the American situation I am looking for some good upward movement over the next few weeks. And lets not forget the very good results, I'm sure they were well above the markets expectations and eventually they will have their effect on the sp.
