Alan,

Thanks for sharing that. You dont have to, so much appreciated.

Very encouraging.

hewittalan6 - 13 Aug 2006 06:52 - 18826 of 27111

DOH!!!
I forgot the main ingredient!!!
MY source would insist on calling it "that biodegradable stuff".
Read that as you wish, but I read it that the Greenseal machines are running on Starpol, and Asda want it to do so.

'Morning all

Alan can't you sleep or are the kiddywinkles getting you up early? Its bad manners to be up at that time of a Sunday morning!

If we assume that your friend is right about that "biodegrable stuff", then surely ASDA will want to take it a step further to have the plastic bags converted to Starpol as well?

And then if this - Greenseal and Starpol - is repeated with a couple of other supermarkets in the Uk, there is the making of a very successful company in SEO.

Notice I haven't yet mentioned WalMart and the rest of US!!!

The oily one

hewittalan6 - 13 Aug 2006 10:03 - 18828 of 27111

Always at my computer by about 6.30, Oily.
pressures of work, don't ya know.
I have not made any remarks to my source reference WM. I have no idea what, if anything the future holds in that respect.
Funnily enough I was completely wrong about the Asda conference. It had nothing whatsoever to do with any changes to packaging. I did ask about the salad packaging, and while no names were mentioned on that, he did refer to a large packager, near Manchester. I know of no others than the one we know about, but for clarity I asked if the packagers parents, Geest, would then take it and their Icelandic parents and the answer was "possibly". Yorkshire Fresh produce is a new one on me, but I assume it was created in the dim mists of time when Associated Dairies split up to become Associated Fresh Foods and Asda, respectively.
My source is understandably coy and I never asked about carrier bags and such like, I was still reeling that he was less aware and interested in Greenseal and much more aware of "that biodegradable stuff". I may be in a minority of 1 here, but I have said for 18 months that i consider Greensel to almost be a sideshow, compared to the constant and growing revenue stream that would be Starpol.
I feel very happy about what September may bring, but this is not a blandishment to anyone to buy into SEO or increase their holding. You do so at your own risk. It is also fairly clear that if the reports from Asda and their customers are less than very good, Asda would happily drop SEO much, much faster than they took them on board.
So there appears to be the gamble. If its good, its big, if its bad, its dead.
Good luck all.
Alan

alan,

"I may be in a minority of 1 here, but I have said for 18 months that i consider Greensel to almost be a sideshow, compared to the constant and growing revenue stream that would be Starpol."

you are absolutely correct in thinking that. unfortunately , the sp rocketed on the back of greenseal. the sp has subsequently returned to where it started because seo haven't delivered on any of the promises and market sentiment has turned against them. it really doesn't matter what you, me or anyone thinks about seo. at the end of the day we are all fans of the ip but we are hostages to market sentiment and sentiment is firmly against seo. greenseal may be the sideshow to starpol but it's greenseal that opens the show and so far the opening act has been crap!! and that's the annoying thing about seo. so much promise and potential but unable to deliver.

Fred1new - 13 Aug 2006 14:54 - 18830 of 27111

Does anybody believe anything written about SEO on this thread any longer?

Fred1new - 13 Aug 2006 14:54 - 18831 of 27111

That would include the authors.

Neetybot - 13 Aug 2006 15:33 - 18832 of 27111

Thanks Alan, very interesting .............and certainly believable.

Tonyrelaxes - 13 Aug 2006 16:49 - 18833 of 27111

fred1new (last bit maybe says it all!).

I think the disbelief is not so much in what he posters say but more what SEO say - or more recently, what they do not say.

stockdog - 13 Aug 2006 18:28 - 18834 of 27111

Tonyrelaxes - can you disbelieve what someone doesn't say?

This question that you raise appears to be more interesting than much of what is posted here these days. Thank you for that.

Fred,
i don't give a flying **** whether you beleive what I have written or not. It makes not one Iota of difference to me. You are completely unaware of a web of posters on here who are in contact with each other away from the boards, as the information is sensitive, and who are in close contact with people who know much more than they let on to any of us, but between us, we have a fair idea of what is going on.
Let me make myself clear again, as obviously post 18823 was not clear enough.
Take it or leave it. My source, and the others sources, may be wrong. we could be pi$$ing in the wind. it would seem strange though if many non-SEO staff, independantly and without knowledge of one another told exactly the same lies!!
September(ish) may shed more light on the accuracy of our sources, but for the hard of thinking, I'll say it again loudly.
This should be read as informed opinion and news, not as fact. It is not an RNS.
Alan

hewittalan6 - 13 Aug 2006 19:22 - 18836 of 27111

Just to underline it; post 18828;

Alan,

You must resist rising to it. You have nothing to prove or gain.

Thanks for the valued info and entertaining posts.

maggiebt4 - 13 Aug 2006 20:33 - 18839 of 27111

Ditto!
Informative and entertaining many thanks

hewittalan6 - 13 Aug 2006 20:41 - 18840 of 27111

I know, I know. I'm a sucker for rising to the bait, but I really do get annoyed when I go out of my way to be as factual as possible and always post that it is only a source (recently) or a guess (previously).
Think I might have rubbed old Fred up the wrong way on another thread!!
Alan
(But Thanks).

tweenie - 14 Aug 2006 02:55 - 18841 of 27111

killing time at airport...
cheers alan.
Goes to support what I heard. Can you clarify is it starpol 3000, as that was what was mooted to me. Though admittedly, I was pissed. LOL

hewittalan6 - 14 Aug 2006 07:32 - 18842 of 27111

Absoltuely no idea, tweenie. My guess is yes because who would by a prepacked salad you couldn't see????
Alan

Fred1new - 14 Aug 2006 08:53 - 18843 of 27111
