Just to underline it; post 18828;

I feel very happy about what September may bring, but this is not a blandishment to anyone to buy into SEO or increase their holding. You do so at your own risk. It is also fairly clear that if the reports from Asda and their customers are less than very good, Asda would happily drop SEO much, much faster than they took them on board.
So there appears to be the gamble. If its good, its big, if its bad, its dead.

Alan,

You must resist rising to it. You have nothing to prove or gain.

Thanks for the valued info and entertaining posts.

maggiebt4 - 13 Aug 2006 20:33 - 18839 of 27111

Ditto!
Informative and entertaining many thanks

hewittalan6 - 13 Aug 2006 20:41 - 18840 of 27111

I know, I know. I'm a sucker for rising to the bait, but I really do get annoyed when I go out of my way to be as factual as possible and always post that it is only a source (recently) or a guess (previously).
Think I might have rubbed old Fred up the wrong way on another thread!!
Alan
(But Thanks).

tweenie - 14 Aug 2006 02:55 - 18841 of 27111

cheers alan.
Goes to support what I heard. Can you clarify is it starpol 3000, as that was what was mooted to me. Though admittedly, I was pissed. LOL

hewittalan6 - 14 Aug 2006 07:32 - 18842 of 27111

Mad Pad - 14 Aug 2006 09:11 - 18844 of 27111

Well done Alan.My friends contact who deals with the packhouses is with Sainsburys not ASDA(my mistake)and if I get any feedback in the next few days will report here.

Fred1new - 14 Aug 2006 09:15 - 18845 of 27111

Last comment, This thread has always seemed to me to be another Ramp and Dump Thread and for amusement only.

hewittalan6 - 14 Aug 2006 09:17 - 18846 of 27111

Last comment? Thank God for that.

aldwickk - 14 Aug 2006 09:54 - 18847 of 27111

Fred,

I agree, its a joke thread. '' my contact at ASDA, no his at Sainsbury or Tesco, maybe the Co op.''

Mad Pad - 14 Aug 2006 09:58 - 18848 of 27111

If you feel this thread is a joke why bother to participate?

knol - 14 Aug 2006 10:33 - 18849 of 27111

Why do people, such as Fred1new and aldwickk, post on aboards? They do not contribute any factual information and appear to hate, yes hate the poster's they constantly attack. I have learn't a lot from this board, obviously, you have to accept some information may not be totaly accurate, but the poster generally will admit there may be possibility of this. What I find annoying is the fact that these boards provide information gleaned, often by constant research by dedicated people, only to have their efforts ridiculed and maligned. I have not posted before but felt compelled to do so. My concern is that the informative and genuine posters such as Alan will just get fed up with these attacks and move away, if they do what will then be the standard of this board?, it will be dominated by the likes of Fred1new and aldwickk. Is that what members' want?

Regards to all genuine and appreciative members

Thanks Knol.
Bit more info for you all.
Several weeks ago I posted that Asda were concerned over transportation issues. This I gained from my contact at Asda. I believed (wrongly) that the issue was the transportation of Starpol and its ingredients.
Today Asda have reported their latest pilot scheme to be one where local farmers collect their produce at one farm, package it and deliver it to local stores, reducing road mileage by 6000 miles a month. That was obviously where the issue lay.
That fits with my mention of Yorkshire Fresh produce, whom I have never heard of and mistakenly guessed as being a left over from the Associated Fresh Foods days. I am now of the opinion that it is more likely to be a local collection of farmers preparing to do exactly what is being launched in Cornwall.
Could still be wrong of course, but it seems to fit nicely if you read the Asda news.

For you doubters I am told my potential source works in Holborn,do Sainsburys have an office there? and she deals with many packhouses.

oblomov - 14 Aug 2006 10:56 - 18852 of 27111

Sainsburys HQ is in Holborn, I believe Mad PAd.

knol,

I frequent three BBs and this is by far the most informative and mature. A year or so ago, the likes of Alldick and Fred1view would have simply been ignored or got short shrift.

In short, those elements if entertained would turn this BB into a mirror image of ADVFN's.....I know which I prefer.

I am willing to look at both sides, but admit to still being optimistic re: SEO's prospects or else I would have bailed a while back.
