THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Alzheimer's detected decades before symptoms

Some of the earliest signs of Alzheimer's disease have been found in a US study more than two decades before the first symptoms usually appear.

Treating the disease early is thought to be vital in order to prevent damage to memory and thinking.

A study, published in the Lancet Neurology, found differences in the brains of people destined to develop an early form of Alzheimer's.

Experts said it may give doctors more time to treat people.

Alzheimer's disease starts long before anyone would notice; previous studies have shown an effect on the brain 10-15 years before symptoms.

It is only after enough brain cells have died that the signs of dementia begin to appear - some regions of the brain will have lost up to 20% of their brain cells before the disease becomes noticeable.

A devout Muslim enters a London taxi;
once seated he asks the cab driver to
turn off the radio, because he says he "must not hear music,
as decreed by his religion and, in the time of the prophet,
there was no music, especially Western music which is
music of the infidels and certainly no radio ........."

So the cab driver politely switches off the radio,
stops the cab and opens the back door.

The Arab asks him:
“What are you doing, man?”

The cabby answers:
“In the time of the prophet there were no taxis, so wait for a camel.”!!

A record 81p of the cost of every litre of petrol goes to fill the Government’s coffers, figures reveal today.

For every 138.3p motorists typically pay per litre at the pumps, almost 59 per cent goes to the Treasury in the form of fuel duty and VAT, according to data obtained from the House of Commons Library.

Campaigners said it showed the strain on the UK’s 33million drivers was already too great – and called for Chancellor George Osborne to further postpone next year’s planned duty increase

David Beckham, the British born soccer star, is admired by legions of fans around the world for his skilful moves and powerful kicks on the field. He is a great Ambassador for this country and sport. He does not have to be brain of Britain.

Tanker first of all please book some spelling lessons. You have no right commenting on David Beckham when you cannot even spell his name correct.

Clive Dunn RIP, reminded me of my grandad. Happy memories etc. Quite scary it was either 1970 when I was in 5th year or maybe even 1969 (can't be arsed to look it up) no idea of the reason behind it but his song Grandad was played in morning assembly, at the time that was quite forward thinking, beat the shit out of Onward Christian Soldiers. The following week we were treated to Benny Hills Ernie The Fastest Milkman In The West. Anyway, I digress I can remember thinking at the time when I was either 15 or 16 that the guy was ancient. Doing the maths he has died aged 92 today, so in 1970 he was 50yrs of age. Next month I am 59, 9 years older than he was then. Even though mentally I still think I'm 16yrs old, 16yr olds today obviously must think I am ancient. Lifes a bitch and then you die :O)

3 monkies,

That video was one of the funniest things I have seen for years.
Shame its true!

I am passing this on to everyone I know.

As to the comment re BNP, its UKIP that will close our boarders to all but those who can contribute more than they take!

3 monkies - 08 Nov 2012 08:44 - 18901 of 81564

Yes, I agree greekman - it is a shame it is true and the sooner the better the boarders are closed to non contributors.

I would suggest it won't be long and it will be taken off U-Tube!!!!!!!! It is a shame it isn't the back ground music in Job Centres hahaha!!!
